About the role: The Environmental Health Science and Policy team is in the Environmental Health Unit, Public Health Protection Practice and Response Branch. The team specialises in environmental public health, particularly chemical and physical environmental hazards.
The Health Scientist administers the blood lead program and provides advice to the community, local government and stakeholders about environmental health risks. It also supports the team with environmental health issues, investigations, incidents and emergencies, projects and systems.

How you'll make a difference: Experienced in public health or have a science background. Experienced in communicating with a range of stakeholders. A collaborative, enthusiastic team player who enjoys learning. Suitable applicants will be able to demonstrate: Administer the blood lead program. Effectively communicate advice about environmental public health risks to the community and other stakeholders. Assist in providing advice to stakeholders and assisting in the preparation and presentation of a range of matters. Maintain positive relationships with stakeholders to facilitate a partnership approach. Share expertise with others to contribute to the capability across the team and broader department. Respond flexibly and adapt approaches in order to deliver outcomes in the face of uncertainty. Work across multiple projects, including engaging with stakeholders, and working in multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging pressures and demands, as required. Demonstrated willingness to be flexible and adaptable to changing priorities with the ability to meet deadlines while working in pressured situations. Keep accurate and complete records of your work activities in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's records, information security and privacy policies and requirements. Take reasonable care for your own health and safety and for that of others in the workplace by working in accordance with legislative requirements and the department's occupational health and safety (OHS) policies and procedures.
