Join the Pacific Blue team as a Health & Safety Specialist to provide specialist advice and support on Health & Safety (H&S) matters. A key focus of the role is to provide safety support for the Clements Gap (CG) BESS construction project ensuring quality outcomes are achieved as expected by Pacific Blue as the owner.
The Clements Gap asset site has an existing wind farm in operation, as well as a utility scale BESS project in the construction phase. The role will support Pacific Blue's oversight obligations of the appointed Principal Contractor's safe work systems and activities.
This will be a fixed term contract position required until the Commercial Operations Date for the Clements Gap BESS project, with an estimated timeline of 18 months.
Key Responsibilities include:Support Pacific Blue Site and Contract managers by providing assurance high H&S risk activities comply with stakeholder requirements via site presence, H&S audit and assurance activities.Ensure Clements Gap BESS project and site-based activities adhere to business H&S policies, procedural and legislative requirements.Support the Clements Gap BESS project with good risk management practices, participate in the development of site-specific safety documentation, participate in risk management activities and safety meetings.Support the Project Delivery and Generation teams, by establishing positive and proactive relationships with key stakeholders of CG BESS and O&M Contractors, by attending meetings and risk workshops.Support the implementation of Safety Strategy and Work Plan for CG BESS and high H&S risk Generation projects.Provide support to the Projects team for CG BESS activities to ensure risks are managed, legal compliance is maintained, and contractual obligations met in relation to H&S.Identify opportunities for continual improvement of the H&S audit and assurance program across CG BESS and Generation high risk activities.H&S support for Project Delivery and Generation teams, with regards to closing safety gaps from audits across high-risk activities.Support risk management activities to ensure that all activities are risk assessed, appropriate controls are identified, implemented, and audited. This includes scheduling support for risk register reviews of business owned risk registers.Providing onsite support in the development or reviewing of Risk assessments, SWMS, procedures and templates for CG BESS Project and Generation high risk activities.Creating and implementing training, initiatives and lessons learned when required.Provide reports and data analysis out of the incident management system as required by key stakeholders.Participate in Accident / Incident Management and investigations for CG BESS Project and Generation high risk activities when required.Participate in Contractor investigation reviews, and review contractor investigation findings for adequacy and effectiveness.Subcontractor Management – including the review and pre-qualification of and approval of subcontractors engaged by PB.Ensure overarching regulatory compliance through the development of processes, procedures, and audits.Attend CG BESS project and site locations interstate as required to ensure continued focus on H&S.Ensure that the Company's compliance obligations are actively maintained, managed and kept up-to-date with particular focus on cyber security and data protection and the compliance obligations allocated to the position title as identified in the Company's Register of Compliance Obligations (as set out in the Compliance Procedure and as amended from time to time).Knowledge and experience:Formal tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline (e.g. Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Risk Management).Knowledge and experience in Renewable Energy construction projects (ideal).Knowledge and experience with the management of Principal Contractors.H&S Knowledge and experience with High Voltage Safety systems (desirable).H&S Knowledge and experience in large mobile crane lifting activities (desirable).Construction Induction (White Card).Knowledge and experience in the implementation of relevant Health and Safety legislation requirements.Knowledge and experience in a HSW role in an Energy or Construction based Industry.Knowledge and awareness of management of Psychosocial hazards and associated risk.Skills:Excellent written and verbal communication skills.The ability to build effective relationships.Able to influence stakeholders.Business document and report writing capabilities.Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to relate to a wide range of people.Ability to work well in a team environment as well as independently where required.At Pacific Blue, as a leading renewable energy provider for the past 30 years, we know what it takes to create real change.
