We are seeking a Health, Safety, Security and Environmental Advisor (HSSE Advisor) to be based in one of our New South Wales offices to service our New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory business centres and associated projects.
About the role: You will work in conjunction with and under the leadership of the APAC HSSE Manager to support the use and implementation of Stantec's Health, Safety, Security and Environment (HSSE) program, and the ANZ HSSE plan within the assigned geography and encompassing projects. The HSSE Advisor – NSW/ACT will execute the day-to-day operations of the HSSE program and plan in conjunction with the relevant project and line managers within the region's offices and projects.
Day to day tasks would involve: Assist the APAC HSSE Manager in the development of the HSSE plan for offices, operations and projects. Support office and operational staff to use and be compliant with Stantec's HSSE systems, programs, documents and plans whilst considering local relevant legislation. Assist with project pre-job HSSE planning and hazard assessments. In conjunction with the relevant project management, conduct project & site visits, field assessments, audits, planned job observations and worksite inspections. Implement the agreed HSSE initiatives within the assigned region, with the goal of continuous improvement of our HSSE culture. Using the Stantec HSSE system, provide HSSE advice and direction to Office Safety and Environment Coordinators (OSECs) and office/operational staff. Support the execution of the HSSE Incident Management System. Support incident management & reporting, ensuring follow-up is completed and documented as required. Conduct investigations as required under the request of the APAC HSSE Manager. Assist in the development of lessons learned and action implementation. Support the HSSE aspects of the subcontractor management program, where required. When required, assist with the Certification audits and management program. Organise agreed events to promote Health and Safety as required. Support Business Development and Proposals Teams to ensure adequate HSSE input to proposal activities. Complete all work in line with Stantec Core Values and in accordance with the Stantec Quality, Safety & Environment Systems and Project Management requirements. Coming in as HSSE Advisor in Stantec, you will bring the below: Strong client-service focus with a solution focused mindset. Relevant qualifications and/or experience in Occupational Health & Safety. Ideally you will have a minimum of 3 years' work experience in a similar role. Root Cause Investigation (ICAM, TapRoot etc) qualification and/or relevant experience. Strong communications skills, both written and verbal, along with excellent interpersonal and organisation abilities, coupled with an ability to work in a team environment. Strong leadership skills and the capability to assess priorities and work independently. Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, with the ability to learn new systems easily. As this role is servicing New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory, you will need an element of flexibility to be able to travel to offices within this geographical area.
