Job Opportunity: Health & Safety Officer
DCT Recruitment Ltd are looking for a H&S Officer Level 3 qualified to work with a team of other people on a construction site.
Requirements: MUST HAVE CSCS card as construction site
Schedule: Monday to Friday 7am till 6pm. Saturday time and half and Sunday double time.
Roles and Responsibilities:
Act as a health & safety go-to person for all matters on site.
Ensure the completion and regular review of:
Risk assessments
Method statements
COSHH
MSDS
Manual Handling assessments
DSE assessments
Toolbox talks
Creating new templates and other safety-related documentation
Carry out site inductions, orientation, workshops, and on-site training as required.
Assist with lifting plans, waste management plans, traffic management, and site-specific plans and procedures as required.
Conduct on-site DSE assessments and review findings.
Ensure site-specific PPE / RPE requirements are met.
Carry out RPE mask face fit testing (training can be provided).
Oversee and order H&S / PPE related consumables, stock, materials, and equipment.
Maintain site COSHH stores, register, and assessments.
Ensure spill management-related activities are suitable.
Manage residual COVID-19 risks on site.
Complete weekly HSE reports for submission to client and TVL management team.
Oversee high-risk and complex works.
Review temporary works arrangements on site.
Ensure adequate dedicated cutting and re-fuelling areas are in operation and compliant.
Assist with compliance to relevant industry legislation including:
LOLER
PUWER
CDM
HASAWA
Assist in the creation and annual review of organisational policies and procedures.
Ensure that safety inspections and audits are carried out regularly, and findings are communicated to relevant Contracts Manager and Directors, and actioned.
Conduct on-site toolbox talks and briefings.
Manage organisational training and competency matrix spreadsheet, including adding new starter information and cross-checking validity of details, right to work and qualifications.
Stay updated with changes in current legislation and suggest changes where relevant.
Support the organisation in maintaining ISO certification using the company management system and controlled forms.
Review sub-contractor RAMS for effectiveness and monitor works.
Conduct incident investigations, RIDDOR, and near miss reporting as necessary.
Conduct witness/injured party interviews and compile evidence for incident investigation reports.
Research industry best practices to help improve safety performance and efficiency.
Conduct HAVS assessments and maintain an up-to-date register.
Perform any other ad hoc health and safety, environmental, and quality duties as required.
Provide general management and support to colleagues across the business.
Act as the company site Mental Health Awareness champion and assist the wellbeing of colleagues across the site.
Perform any other relevant tasks as may be reasonably requested by Directors.
Skills and Qualifications:
NEBOSH - HSE Certificate in Process Safety Management
NEBOSH - National Certificate in Fire Safety
NEBOSH - National Certificate in Construction Health & Safety
CSCS card
Membership to a Health & Safety body e.g. IOSH is advantageous but not necessary.
