Dedicated and experienced in the WHS field, you have expert knowledge and understanding of WHS principles and frameworks, legislation and codes. You understand the importance of providing visible leadership on-site that can provide knowledge and strategies to improve HSE and corrective actions when necessary. Skilled in worksite investigations, you will be determined and persistent in asking all the right questions to determine root causes and then communicate what can be done better. You are engaging with excellent communication skills, able to relate to a broad range of stakeholders including shipyard staff, suppliers and government. With an eye for detail, you have participated or led safety audits. You have a solid understanding of Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint. You are currently looking to expand your professional knowledge and work with motivated and inspiring HSE professionals who can expand your world view.About the roleThe Health, Safety & Environment Officer is responsible for providing direct support, assistance and advisory services to sites within their area of responsibility, to ensure management and workers are aware of and operate within the NORSTA and statutory HSE requirements, and to drive continuous improvement in HS&E performance and outcomes.Some (but not all) key responsibilities:Provide functional advice to project management to ensure compliance with regard to all relevant Safety and Environmental statutory regulations and NORSTA HSE Management System.Assist project sites to demonstrate visible leadership and apply knowledge to reduce HSE risk and prevent injury and illness.Provide direction to project management detailing HSE improvements and corrective actions where applicable and provide functional support to ensure such improvement and corrective actions are implemented.Support sites to conduct HSE incident investigations to determine root causes, contributing factors and corrective actions and communicate key learnings.Work with external parties such as health and safety regulators and Workers Compensation insurers/government agencies on case management, notifiable incidents and other applicable requirements.Schedule and deliver HSE compliance and operational training to employees, as required and in accordance with procedures, standards and legislation.Role model our values and behaviours to the business and ensure that leaders promote our values.Ensure the quality and timeliness of Incident data and KPI reporting.Work with key stakeholders to drive compliance to HSE lead activities and support the execution of safety observations, toolbox talks and other HSE programs and initiatives.Communicate outcomes in relevant forums (i.e. HSE Meetings, HSEQ Notice Board etc.)Essential experience: Minimum 2 years' experience in HSE/WHS/OH & S role.
