About the Role We are seeking an experienced Health Safety and Wellbeing Advisor to join our government client's dedicated Health, Safety and Wellbeing team.
In this role, you will support and deliver services and programs for its employees and customer departments.Your primary focus will be on developing staff protocols, policies, procedures, and supporting documents related to employee management in relation to environmental conditions.
This includes working remotely when regions are identified as areas of concern (floods, fires, heatwaves, storms, etc.
), establishing protocols for travel arrangements during such circumstances, and developing risk management documents and assessments.
Key Responsibilities
First Point of Contact: Provide sound advice and support on a broad range of health, safety, and wellbeing issues to executives, managers, and relevant portfolio agency staff.
Support Senior Advisor: Assist the Senior Advisor, Health, Safety and Wellbeing, and the People and Culture branch in delivering health, safety, and wellbeing activities and initiatives, including the Peer Support Program, Mental Health and Wellbeing training, and the yearly calendar of events.
Reporting and Correspondence: Prepare high-quality reports and other correspondence on a range of OHS and HR issues, ensuring that corrective actions are addressed and reported effectively.
Incident and Hazard Tracking: Record all reported hazards, incidents, and injuries, track the completion of corrective actions in the relevant register, and follow up on outstanding actions as needed.
Workplace Inspections: Track and follow up on the completion of quarterly workplace inspection checklists, ensuring all corrective actions are recorded and hazards identified are addressed.
Ergonomic Assessments: Review completed self-assessment ergonomic forms and working remotely forms, assist stakeholders with ergonomic assessments, and answer related queries.
Health and Wellbeing Initiatives: Procure, promote, and administer aspects of Health and Wellbeing initiatives, including developing programs and tools to support psychological safety and the prevention of psychosocial hazards in the workplace.
Key Selection Criteria
Problem Solving: Identify complex stakeholder issues and manage and monitor the impact and risk of programs, projects, or issues on people or organisations with a vested interest.
Consultancy: Provide succinct and clear expert advice to stakeholders on a range of employment, change management, or health and safety matters, using various strategies to engage and communicate effectively.
Relationship Building: Establish and maintain relationships with people at all levels and from different backgrounds and organisations.
Communication: Demonstrate highly developed interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills, including the ability to develop and present material on complex matters to a wide range of audiences and prepare quality briefs, reports, and correspondence.
