About the Role: The Decision Support Unit (DSU) is led by the Executive Group Manager who reports to the Chief Operating Officer of Canberra Health Services. The DSU works collaboratively to enable operational and non-operational planning and reporting for CHS, using ABF as a meta-framework. Health Information Services (HIS) supports a wide network of tertiary health services such as The Canberra Hospital, University of Canberra Hospital, Mental Health, Justice Health, Alcohol and Drug Services, Walk in Centres, Community Health Centres, and specialist outpatient services. HIS provides a range of functions including scanning and health record management, clinical coding and case mix data generation, patient identifier maintenance, clinical record forms design and managing access to personal health information to facilitate patient care follow-up, research, quality improvement, education, and hospital management purposes.
This position works under limited direction from the Operations Manager and provides high level advice on all aspects of health record principles and fundamentals in an electronic and paper-based environment with consideration of documentation, record creation, scanning, deficiencies, chart correction, record tracking and retention, to staff internal to HIS and to external Departments across the health service.
