Our health centers service nine communities spread over 45,000 square kilometers in the Big Rivers region. The Sunrise footprint covers Aboriginal communities that have some of the most untouched beautiful landscapes to explore where the locals are welcoming and ready to share their culture.
How You'll Make a Difference Sunrise is now looking for a full time Health Promotion Coordinator based in Katherine, Northern Territory. The Health Promotion Coordinator is an integral role within the Integrated Health Portfolio, and Primary Health Care setting. This role is focused working with a team of Community Base Workers located throughout our 9 communities, with a key focus on health promotion, prevention and early intervention community-based activities, as well as working collaboratively with the Primary Health Care portfolio.
More specifically, your responsibilities include but not limited to:
Coordinate the community-based health promotional team in the design, development, and implementation of activities, events, and community engagement initiatives.Lead the coordination of Health Promotion activities across communities, ensuring they are culturally appropriate and effectively address the specific needs of Aboriginal communities.Attend interagency meetings, develop networks with other service providers, and work collaboratively to engage in community events and address the needs of individual communities.Design and develop a comprehensive program of online outreach activities, including engaging in health promotion across online platforms.Lead health promotion, prevention, and early detection projects, including but not limited to Public Health responses such as local advertising campaigns, health promotional materials, and support for events such as women's health days and men's health days.Provide and plan education with the Health Promotion Team and collaborate with other business units in the Integrated Health Team and the Primary Health Team. This includes, but is not limited to, specific funded programs, health promotion and early detection, sexual health, heart health, healthy eating, and healthy lifestyles.What You'll Bring to the Team To qualify, you will need a qualification in a health promotion, leadership, governance and/or community development. As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong personal values that align with the Sunrise Way, understanding of cultural competency and cultural safety when working with Indigenous people and multicultural societies. You will also be able to maintain confidentiality and privacy, be willing to undertake mandatory and further training relevant to the role, and have the physical ability and willingness to undertake the inherent requirements of the position.

About the Big Rivers Region The Big Rivers region (a 3 hour drive from Darwin) begins south of Kakadu National Park encompassing Pine Creek, then extends over 500km south to Kalkaringi and stretches across the width of the Territory between the Western Australia and Queensland borders. The region is significant in scale, covering over 360,000 square kilometers and accounting for an area greater than that covered by Germany. The region consists of a number of varied natural environments including vast rivers, tropical forests, rocky escarpments and savannah plains.
