Position Description
An opportunity has become available for a multi-disciplined Scientific Officer (Health Professional) to join our Laboratory in Orange with participation in the Bathurst Laboratory roster
(approx. 1 day per week plus some relief work) . You will be an essential member of a highly skilled team, operating to service a large area of the NSW Central West and the relevant Private Hospitals in Orange and Bathurst.
Hours:
This is a permanent position, with shifts rostered to cover the hours of 8 am until 8.30 pm, Monday to Friday, and 10.30 am until 2 pm on Saturdays. Participation in the on-call roster outside of these hours will be required.
Responsibilities:
Perform the duties required in the Core Disciplines of Haematology, Coagulation, Transfusion, Biochemistry and Microbiology
Perform duties according to documented procedures and standards
Conduct yourself in a professional and honest manner at all times
Be a helpful member of our team and generally offer assistance within the scope of your training and capabilities
Demonstrate a strong work ethic
Required Qualifications:
Relevant degree from a recognised tertiary institution
Medical Laboratory Science degree (AIMS-accredited or AIMS-assessed)
Proven ability to work in and contribute positively to a multidisciplinary team, as well as individually
Proven ability to communicate effectively with fellow team members, doctors and hospital staff
Proven time management skills and ability to work to deadlines
Willingness and flexibility to work across multiple sites and a range of shifts
Flexibility to meet the needs of a dynamic and changing work environment
Strong attention to detail
Strong computer literacy
Motivation to build on current skill set
A current driver's licence and transport
Desirable Qualifications:
Prior experience in a pathology laboratory
Prior experience in the core laboratory disciplines of Haematology (including blood film morphology), Coagulation, Transfusion and Biochemistry
