The OrganisationKatherine West Health Board (KWHB), established in 1998, is an industry-renowned provider of comprehensive, culturally secure primary health care services in the Northern Territory. As a fully accredited Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation, KWHB is funded by both Australian and Northern Territory Government healthcare grants. They deliver preventative, clinical, and emergency care across the remote outback region southwest of Katherine, with a focus on improving the health and wellbeing of all people in the area while providing a strong community voice in matters affecting their health.KWHB also operates programs across the wider Big Rivers Region, which includes areas served by Wurli Wurlinjang Health Service (Wurli), Sunrise Health Service (Sunrise), and the Northern Territory Government (NT Health). The Big Rivers Region begins south of Kakadu National Park encompassing Pine Creek, then extends over 500 km south to Kalkaringi and stretches across the width of the Territory between the Western Australia and Queensland borders. The region is significant in scale, covering over 360,000 km2. KWHB is committed to recruiting and retaining Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff, as well as creating pathways for community members to collaborate with managers, leaders, health professionals, outreach workers, and support teams.The OpportunityKWHB is seeking a Health Coaching Clinical Educator (HCCE) to provide clinical support, education, and training while coordinating professional development for Aboriginal Health Practitioners (AHPs), Trainee AHPs (TAHPs), and Health Coaches, including trainees. The HCCE will play a key role in supporting learners and trainees to enhance their knowledge, skills, and confidence, enabling them to excel in a multidisciplinary remote primary health care setting. This includes facilitating clinical placements and providing on-the-job clinical development support for AHPs, TAHPs, and Health Coaches.Working under the guidance of the Executive Manager Health Services, the HCCE will:Identify, plan and facilitate the clinical and professional educational learning and development needs of AHPs, TAHPs and Health Coaches (including trainees) in remote locations.Ensure effective clinical practice is in line with evidence-informed best practice principles and supporting compliance with organisational protocols including CARPA and Clinical Procedures Manuals.Mentor and role model consistent clinical best practice and a positive learning culture in our remote health centres.Maintain and update clinical resources on the KWHB intranet relevant to your clinical role within the organisation.Foster a positive workplace culture through exemplary practices and team-oriented processes.About YouThe successful candidate will possess a strong understanding of the principles of Aboriginal community-controlled health services, along with the ability to engage sensitively and in a culturally safe manner with both staff and communities. They will have demonstrated experience in providing on-the-job supervision, mentoring, and teaching, as well as signing off on student placement logbooks. Additionally, they will bring broad, comprehensive primary health care experience and a solid understanding of the clinical skills and competencies required for AHPs, TAHPs, and Health Coaches (including trainees) to function effectively as autonomous remote practitioners within a multidisciplinary health care team.Additionally, the successful candidate will have:Post-graduate qualification in clinical or adult education and training or Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAE40116) from a recognised institution or willingness to obtain.Completed or commitment to complete an accredited Provide First Aid course within 2 months of commencing in the position and yearly CPR only refresher thereafter.Experience in providing direct educational support to Aboriginal learners.Valid Vaccination Accreditation Certificate or willingness to obtain.Please note that it is a mandatory requirement for all employees of Katherine West Health Board to hold, or have the ability to obtain, a NT Working with Children Clearance (Ochre Card), Criminal History Check, and NT Driver's Licence.
