Health, Safety & Environment (Mining, Resources & Energy)Full timeWe are seeking an experienced Health and Safety Manager to join our senior leadership team in TAS, reporting to the Operations Manager Railton.You will partner with leaders at Railton and Cornwall Coal to achieve continuous improvement in safe and sustainable operations.In this diverse role, you'll be influencing the safety culture of sites that operate open cut limestone and underground / open cut coal mining, clinkering and cement processing and have rail and ship terminals.You'll get involved in the hands-on, day-to-day support as well as provide higher-level strategic leadership and direction to line leaders and the general workforce.This role is not for someone who is happy to just go through the motions and work with what we already have in place. We are looking for you to identify opportunities, drive change and have a true impact on health, safety, and productivity in our business.About the role :Coach, mentor, assist, challenge and guide site leaders in safety and related issuesProvide professional advice to leaders in risk management, using internal frameworksStimulate improvements in the safety culture by championing issues and engaging all employees and contractors in dialogueProvide advice on requirements to manage and implement SHEQ Management SystemEnsure relevant training needs analyses are maintained for compliance training and support deliveryCommunicate and facilitate the implementation of safety best practicesRecommend strategic and tactical safety improvementsPersonally lead investigations for all high-level incidentsMonitor business-specific safety legislation and regulatory requirements to ensure it is incorporated into corporate and site systems and communicated to all site personnelPlan for successful site shutdowns and provide technical safety input to other projectsManage industrial hygiene, employee health, return to work and rehabilitationManage operations security, ensuring risk profile is effectively managedIn partnership with senior leaders, liaise with relevant government and industry bodiesSupport the internal / external audit programAbout you :Experience leading safety in a complex / heavy industrial setting, ideally including coal miningDegree qualified with a Diploma in Workplace Health and Safety as a minimumDemonstrated understanding and experience interpreting Workplace Health and Safety and Environmental LegislationExperience in maintaining a management system certified to ISO 14001, ISO 9001 and ISO 45001 and ISO 31000Skillset that includes highly developed communication, influencing and coaching skillsExperience with rehabilitation and return to work preferredExperience with a range of areas within the broader safety e.g. health, complianceAbility to build relationships at all levels of the businessUnderstanding of budgeting and project management is desirableAbility to travel between sites in Railton and FingalWhy work for Cement Australia?Site Manager focused on partnering with leadership team to drive and deliver realistic, achievable and safe outcomes for the site - on time and within budgetLifestyle location and strong local communityBased at our Railton site in the beautiful pristine northern region of TasmaniaJoin Australia's largest integrated cement manufacturer and distributorSalary package that include tool of trade vehicle and bonus potentialBenefits that include novated leasing, product discounts, EAP program and parental leaveAbout us :An icon of the Australian cement industry, Cement Australia is the nation's leading supplier of cementitious products and services.Our vision is to create a safe, healthy, productive and sustainable business and we are looking for like-minded professionals who align with our company values.Additional Information :As part of the recruitment process you will be required to complete a pre-employment medical and a background check.
