About the roleMcConnell Dowell Constructors are seeking an enthusiastic Health and Safety Advisor to join the Health and Safety team on our water pipeline project. This essential water supply project, delivered through a 50/50 joint venture with partners BMD, includes the construction of a 117-kilometre water pipeline, intake pump station, intermediate pump stations, reservoirs, and a water treatment plant. Designed to deliver 30 gigalitres of water annually, it will ensure long-term water security for the region and support the burgeoning hydrogen industry in Queensland.If you're looking to join a company that encourages people to think outside the box, influence change through great ideas and continuous improvement, this role is ideal for you. This position will work on a 15/6 roster with site uplift applicable.Your responsibilities will include:Report on health and safety matters to the Health and Safety Manager and Construction Manager.Liaise with and advise construction personnel in regard to mitigation and management of risks and hazards.Complete health and safety investigations and develop reports on all incident investigations in line with client and McConnell Dowell reporting requirements.Review site risk registers, with identified controls for each construction execution plan and support Construction Risk Assessment Workshops as necessary.Provide ongoing health and safety advice to Supervisors, Contractors and site workers to eliminate or minimize hazards.Assist in reporting, investigating and implementing corrective and/or preventive actions resulting from identification of hazards, near miss incidents and work-related illness/injury.Work to achieve the project health and safety targets and building a strong health and safety culture.About youTo be successful in this role, you will need the following:Proven experience working in Health and Safety.Relevant tertiary qualifications in Health and Safety.Experience within the Construction/Engineering sectors.Strong and Clear communication skills, written and verbal.Advocate for a strong safety culture.We're dedicated to building a diverse workplace, so we also look at applicants with great transferable skills from similar industries.
