AGL's Energy Hubs, Power Development and Construction HSE team have an opportunity for a Health & Safety Advisor.
Based in Newcastle, you will play a crucial role in AGL's energy transformation journey, supporting the Energy Hubs development portfolio as we continue our process of closing thermal power generation assets, developing renewable energy and achieving capacity of 5GW by 2030 and 12GW by 2035.
As part of our Climate Transition Action Plan, AGL is in the process of closing our thermal power generation assets and replacing them with renewable energy and battery storage (BESS) assets.
We have targets of 5GW by 2030 and 12 GW by 2035.
What you'll be doing Collaborating with Energy Hubs, Power Development and Construction Teams.
Support the development, implementation and assurance of strategies, programs, and initiatives at AGL sites including AGL major construction projects.
Assist in the development and review of HSE requirement for RFP and tenders for major construction projects.
Ensure relevant compliance touchpoints are identified and integrated in contractor management lifecycle focused on HSE compliance and continuous improvement.
Manage verification and assurance of Contractor performance and provide quantitative analysis of trends and identify continuous improvement opportunities as required.
Partner with business unit teams, sharing learnings, offering solutions and providing assurance/compliance with HSE requirements.
Support the business as required with the delivery of HSE contractor forums for critical contracting engagements.
About You Having been successful in a similar H&S advisory role within heavy industry, construction or other high-risk environments, you will have experience in assisting the implementation of the components of a Health and Safety management system in a complex multi-disciplinary environment along with exposure to contractor management & tendering principles.
What you'll bring to the table Tertiary qualification in Work Health and Safety Environment or other related business discipline; Diploma or above.
Experience with working with multiple primary contractor projects with an understanding of contractor, sub-contractor relationships and familiar with Contractor Management processes.
Demonstrate auditing and risk management skills in contracting environment.
Exposure to leading incident investigation for complex incidents involving high risk work Interpersonal skills with high quality accurate written and verbal communication skills.
Proven people/stakeholder engagement skills with the ability to influence.
