headspace is Australia's National Youth Mental Health Foundation, providing a comprehensive range of services for young people aged 12 - 25. headspace centres are a one-stop-shop for young people seeking support with their mental health, physical and sexual health, work and study, or alcohol and/or other drug use. About the Role As a Mental Health Clinician you are an experienced practitioner who will be a part of the headspace centre's team. You will provide care co-ordination and deliver counselling intervention to young people experiencing mild to moderately complex social and emotional wellbeing challenges.
This is a Full time Opportunity contracted till June 2026 with possibility of extension! The role will provide contemporary youth-focused, youth-friendly mental health services including:
Utilise discipline-specific skills, professional mental health knowledge and clinical decision-making abilities to accurately assess and review the access, social, emotional and mental health needs of young people.Where appropriate for a young person's care, contribute to multi-disciplinary team triage and case review processes, and facilitate service access and referrals.Develop and monitor individual treatment and care plans, and complete case management tasks as required to meet the needs of individual young people.Complete time-limited psychotherapy using evidence-based approaches as per funding guidelines.Provide instruction, supervision and psychosocial education to young people and their support networks as required.Assessment of customer mental health needs and formulation of relevant therapeutic plans.Delivery of individual counselling and group programs.Provide clinical care coordination for a caseload of young people, including liaison with stakeholders, provision of case management and appropriate and timely referrals.Delivery of high-quality evidence-based intervention and advice ensuring family-inclusive practice which ensures the voice, choice and active involvement of young people, and their family, friends and support networks are heard and supported.Regular review of case formulations and participation in case reviews with headspace team and clinical supervisor is a mandatory component of the role.What we provide our Clinicians Access to 1-1 Clinical Supervision and wider Communities of Practice to support your learning, career growth and wellbeing.Access to training for professional development and to support with maintain accreditation.About You Ability and experience in the provision of counselling and case management of young people presenting with a varied physical and mental health issues.Demonstrated ability and proficiency in the timely receipting, appropriate documenting and accurate record keeping into computerised programs.High level of verbal and written communication skills particularly in establishing and maintaining rapport with staff, young people and their families and carersAbility to prioritise and manage individual caseload whilst meeting service and young people's needDemonstrated ability to recognise other needs that WMQ can assist young people with and provide relevant and timely referrals.What makes a difference for us! Tertiary qualification in Psychology, Social Work or Counselling.Current registration with relevant professional body:
For Social Workers: The possession of a tertiary degree in Social Work providing eligibility for membership to the Australian Association of Social Workers is required.For Counsellors: The possession of a tertiary degree in Counselling providing eligibility for registration with either Australian Counselling Association or Psychotherapy and Counselling Federation of Australia.Proof of Vaccination Status as required by Legislation, Health Directives or WMQ Policy throughout employment and prior to commencement.Relevant probity checks required by legislation and WMQ policy.Current Driver's Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.Why WMQ?
