Position Information Ryde Secondary College (Years 7-12) has an enrolment of 1450 students, including 67% students from a language background other than English. It is a comprehensive high school with an academically selective cohort, an additional class for gifted and talented students, regular classes in each cohort, and a support unit. The college has a strong focus on quality teaching, differentiated learning, Cultures of Thinking, collaborative teacher professional learning, student voice, social justice programs, and a creative and positive learning environment. This position would have two main responsibilities: the leadership of sport (curricular and co-curricular) as well as the second Head Teacher Welfare.
Selection Criteria Demonstrated capacity to collaboratively build a whole school culture of high expectations and research-based innovation to support student wellbeing and engagement in sport. Demonstrated capacity to effectively lead and engage all stakeholders in the management of complex student wellbeing needs to promote the enablers of success. Demonstrated organisational ability and the capacity to lead diverse and comprehensive Sport programs and initiatives, including regularly scheduled Sport, whole-school Sporting events, and co-curricular competitions. Demonstrated ability to collaboratively design, plan, and implement school initiatives as a proactive member of the executive team, using data and evaluation for continuous improvement. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning, and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment, and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff, and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.
