Position Information Sir Joseph Banks High School is a comprehensive high school with a current enrolment of 931 mainstream students and a Support Unit of 72 students catering for 3 Intellectually Mild and 2 Intellectually Moderate classes.
We are a vibrant and proudly inclusive, multicultural learning community (84% NESB), with 29 Aboriginal or Torres Strait Island students, who have built a strong learning culture of Excellence, Innovation, Opportunity and Success.
Excellence: We are proudly inclusive and utilise the wide range of cultural and language backgrounds as opportunities to deepen and enrich student learning.
Innovation: At present we are building teacher capacity through professional learning teams who are working on Future Focused Learning and implementing Project Based Learning, Visible Learning and Growth Mindset as part of our curriculum.
Opportunity: Our learning community has developed strong partnerships with our 6 primary partners through the development of a Community of Schools, local, metropolitan and global businesses through Australian Business Community Network, several TAFEs and all major universities.
Success: We are a high growth high school achieving at the top 1% in NSW for growth in literacy and numeracy between Years 9-12.
Selection Criteria Demonstrated ability to initiate, implement and oversee whole school administration roles including daily organisation of staff cover, variations to routine, employment of casuals and the development and implementation of rosters and schedules. Demonstrated evidence of high-quality organisational skills and the ability to balance priorities to ensure that all processes benefit staff, student learning, management, and wellbeing. A visible leader with highly developed interpersonal and communication skills with the demonstrated ability to operate effectively across the school through outstanding organisational and high-quality relationship building. General Selection Criteria Successful teaching experience with capacity to initiate improvement in teaching, learning and classroom practice. Knowledge of curriculum, assessment and student welfare with the ability to lead and design quality, inclusive teaching and learning programs. Educational leadership skills to build the capacity and manage the performance of individuals and teams. Well developed communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build relationships and engage students, staff and parents. Ability to plan and manage resources effectively and equitably to support teaching and learning. Knowledge of and commitment to the Department's Aboriginal education policy. Conditions An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement.
