This role is pivotal in leading the risk management function of Group Treasury in a Line 1 capacity, encompassing a wide range of responsibilities essential for fostering strong relationships with subsidiary and Group Boards, as well as relevant regulators.
By owning Line 1 risk, the position will oversee controls, processes, and governance across all Treasury activities. This includes comprehensive analytical, modelling, reporting, and policy determination functions within Asset & Liability Management. The role is crucial for managing risks within appetite, ensuring that controls are effectively designed and operational, and maintaining compliance with all relevant obligations.
How you will make an impact
Support the Group Treasury team in defining, calibrating, monitoring, and managing key balance sheet risk appetite settings by collaborating with Treasury, Finance, Risk, and business partners, focusing on governance, forecasting, liquidity, and capital management initiatives.
Maintain a strong understanding of best practices in process management and governance for Treasury's control framework, ensuring continuous improvement and effective documentation, testing, and monitoring of controls to mitigate risks, particularly in response to regulatory changes.
Align the Group's financial plans and forecasts with risk appetite settings to ensure financial resilience for the AMP Group.
Oversee and monitor key financial analyses, risk appetite metrics, and ratios that influence significant financial decisions at the executive and board levels.
Ensure accuracy and completeness of governance processes while adhering to prudential regulations.
Design and document efficient controls that support compliance with obligations.
Lead the development and execution of control testing plans and risk deep dives across Treasury to ensure an effective control environment, while actively monitoring the risk profile, including Key Risk Indicators and the Annual Risk Management Declaration (RMD) process.
Provide risk, compliance, and control information to the risk forum, Board, and Committees, while delivering training to improve awareness and understanding of compliance plans across the business.
What you will bring to the role
Undergraduate level degree in a finance related or economics-based discipline preferred
10+ years' experience within the financial services sector within a regulated institution or the finance function within other industries preferred
Essential Requirements
Robust understanding and experience with controls, including the ability to design, implement, and monitor effective frameworks, and enhance operational effectiveness
Excellent understanding of best practice risk management concepts with demonstrated experience.
Ability to design, implement, and monitor effective control frameworks ensuring that risk management practices align with organisational goals.
Proven experience influencing stakeholders at all levels and presenting to senior executives.

Understanding of statutory and management accounting concepts.
Experience managing a small team demonstrating leadership capabilities and fostering a collaborative work environment
We are looking for candidates with outstanding analytical skills, capable of conducting detailed financial modeling and balance sheet analysis, along with a solid understanding of financial concepts. The ideal candidate should work independently or collaboratively, demonstrating a proactive approach that balances commercial insight with risk awareness. Effective communication is essential, as candidates must convey complex financial and risk concepts clearly to diverse audiences.
Additionally, we seek individuals who excel in critical thinking and problem-solving, with a focus on continuous improvement. The ability to lead and influence a small team of technical experts while engaging with a broader function is vital. If you are passionate about finance and meet these criteria, we encourage you to apply.
Ready to create your tomorrow?
If you're someone who sees opportunity where others see challenge, come and work with us in smart, progressive ways as we transform an iconic Australian brand for the future. And, through a series of career-defining moments, create your own tomorrow.
Don't procrastinate! We review applications when we get them, and if we discover the ideal candidate, we may close the role earlier than the advertised close date.
