Job Description
The Head of Transfer Agency Operations, Australia is a senior leadership role responsible for the Transfer Agency functional service delivery to clients as well as execution of strategic initiatives in order to grow the business and meet organizational goals in Australia and more broadly from a regional and global perspective.
In addition, the role will be responsible for the resiliency of the Australian Transfer Agency operation with a strong focus on the risk and control framework to support such activities.
The incumbent to the role is expected to lead this function, communicate strategy and priorities, and drive continual upgrades of talent and skills.
The role holder will form part of the Asia Pacific (APAC) Transfer Agency Management team.
In this role, the individual will manage a wide network of stakeholders, including internal Client Executive, Product Heads, Technology, Australia Country Head and external Clients, Auditors, Legal and Industry participants.
Specific areas of global responsibility will include:
Lead a team of professionals in Australia and within a global perspective to deliver quality end-to-end Transfer Agency services.
Continually enhance the Transfer Agency service offering through knowledge of competitors, industry and the regulatory environment.
Work closely and collaboratively with other senior management to deliver standardized best practice service models.
Ensure regulatory and policy requirements are met from a Transfer Agency perspective, working closely with the TA senior management and with the 2nd line of defense in region and globally.
Contribute to the management, strategic planning and direction of the overall Global and Regional Transfer Agency business.
Work closely and collaboratively with Product, Technology and other business partners in region/globally.
Develop strategies and oversee project plans meeting operational goals, participate in business development including sales pitches, and cost out new pieces of business.
Instill a client focus in the core operation, consistently meeting agreed client service levels and proactively managing and exceeding client expectations.
Monitor service level standards and provide senior management with compliance reporting as well as maintain an environment where processes and controls are monitored, and potential risks escalated on a timely basis.
Identify, develop and retain key talent on behalf of the overall business.
Manage the performance of the direct and matrix reports, across the country and region.
Effectively manage a large cross-jurisdictional operational team, embedding a culture of ethics and promoting employee engagement through the People Strategy and Operations Excellence training programs.
Continuously improve STP rates, efficiency/productivity through automation and process reengineering.
Implement best practice processes and controls across locations to achieve high quality service output.
Ensure a robust and appropriate governance oversight model is in place to manage offshore and cross-jurisdictional sites and vendors, as necessary.
Work closely with each jurisdiction on the management of internal audits or other reviews to a satisfactory conclusion.
Manage end-to-end operational risk, including strong resiliency and continuity of business plans, as it relates to Transfer Agency activities.
Sponsor and work closely with Change Groups (within and outside of TA) to deliver projects in the region on time and within budget ensuring adherence to internal policy and standards.
Manage headcount according to budget commitments.
Actively participate at a senior level at key client meetings, RFPs, sales meetings, Board meetings etc.
Monitor and interpret the management information as well as internal and external benchmarks to assess and communicate the performance of the function.
Represent Transfer Agency and the Australia site at executive level internally as well as with Clients and Industry wide.
Qualifications and Skills:
10+ years of experience in a related role.
Extensive experience in leadership role.
In-depth transfer agency, fund administration operations knowledge, including applicable regulatory environment.
Strong strategic leadership and thought process.
Strong risk, control and problem-solving skills.
Strong leadership and people development skills, able to develop diverse teams.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills with proven success interacting with senior management in Operations, Technology and Product.
Global Business and Commercial Acumen.
Ability to establish and build trust with professionals throughout the business as a leader, advisor and business partner to the organization with a clear client orientation.
Strong awareness of both external and internal best practice perspectives, maintaining a balanced and fresh viewpoint.
Proven track record of balancing the need to take delivery risk in order to create time to market with the need for accuracy, diligence and thoroughness.
Demonstrated ability to remain unbiased in a diverse working environment.
Education:
Bachelor's degree/University degree or equivalent experience.
