You will maintain training standards for the organisation ensuring operational currency and proficiency for personnel and will conduct training andtesting as required to issue or renew flight crew licences and ratings in accordance with QGAir or CASA requirements.This is a full-time 3-year contract position. Whilst the role is currently located in Brisbane, applications are also being accepted in Cairns or Townsville and will be negotiated with successful candidate.Key AccountabilitiesYour Key Accountabilities will include:• Undertake duties as delegated by the Head of Flying Operations and act as Alternate Head of Flying Operations as required.• Fly single pilot Instrument Flight Rules (IFR), twin-engine helicopters on aeromedical, search and rescue, emergency and counter disaster operations and other Government support tasks.• Oversee the Training & Checking department ensuring efficient, effective and safe management, resourcing and administration of the QGAir training program pertaining to all pilots, aircrew officers and rescue crew officers.• Maintain a quality assurance program for training standards of the organisation.• Ensure all personnel are operationally current and proficient on type in accordance with Flight Manual, QGAir Helicopter Rescue Operations Manual and Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) requirements.• Carry out the training and testing for the issue or renewal of relevant flight crew licences and ratings in accordance with QGAir or CASA requirements.Mandatory requirements:Licences & Ratings• Hold a current Australian Air Transport Pilots Licence (ATPL)• Flight Examiner Rating (FER)• Flight Instructor Rating (FER) - Multi Engine or previous Military Equivalent• Low Level Rating• Night Vision Imaging System (NVIS) Rating• Multi Engine Command Instrument Rating - 5 RenewalsFlight Hours Requirements• Minimum 2500 hours total time• Minimum 1500 hours Pilot in Command (PIC) Helicopter• Minimum 500 hours Night PIC Helicopter• Minimum 1500 hours Multi-Engine PIC Helicopter• Minimum 1200 hours Turbine Helicopter• Minimum 100 hours NVIS OperationsCertification & Documentation• Hold or be eligible to hold an Aviation Security Identification Card (ASIC)• Valid Class 1 Aviation MedicalQualifications & Experience• Demonstrated and extensive knowledge of CASA regulationsHighly desirable:Type Ratings• AW139 Type RatingCertification & Documentation• Hold a current and valid passport to enable international travel if required.Qualifications & Experience• Tertiary qualifications in aviation, business, or project management.• Senior management level experience in the provision of aviation services• Training approval relevant to QGAir Helicopter fleet.• Strong, demonstratable working knowledge of Microsoft Office suiteSpecial ConditionsPrior to appointment, the successful applicant will be required to complete an initial psychological assessment to determine their suitability to perform the inherent occupational requirements of the role.In compliance with CASA Drug and Alcohol Management Plan requirements, the preferred applicant will be required to undergo pre-employment testing and participate in the QGAir Drug and Alcohol Management Program.Following appointment to the role, ongoing employment will be subject to the successful candidate securing and maintaining formal approval from CASA to hold the position of HOTAC for the organisations AOC.The preferred applicant will be required to undertake temporary touring duties at any base operated by the Aviation Capability Group.The successful applicant must comply with the organisations Drug and Alcohol Management Plan.Act as Alternate Head of Flying Operations (HOFO) for temporary periods in their absence.Applications to remain current for 12 months.Job Ad Reference: QLD/557355/24Closing Date: Wednesday, 24th April 2024
