As the Head of Technology and Knowledge Management, you will shape and lead VGSO's technology and knowledge management transformation, ensuring these critical functions drive organisational excellence and position VGSO as Government's trusted legal advisor.
This role requires a visionary professional who can balance strategic oversight with operational excellence, ensuring VGSO's systems and information assets are secure, innovative, and optimised to meet the needs of our clients and staff.
As a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team, you will lead the development and execution of a comprehensive strategy for technology and knowledge management.
Your ability to build strong relationships with senior stakeholders and foster a high-performing team culture will be instrumental to your success.
To be successful, you will need to be a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills and a proven track record of driving successful change in complex environments.

Key Responsibilities: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of IT professionals, knowledge managers, and support staff, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement; including learning and development ensuring that the team remains at the forefront of technology and knowledge management trends.Define and execute a clear, actionable strategic direction for VGSO's technology and knowledge management agenda.
Provide effective leadership and strategic direction relating to information technology and systems to ensure the services required by VGSO's staff and clients are delivered in the most effective, efficient and contemporary way.Manage VGSO's technology budget, ensuring cost-effective delivery of IT services while maintaining high standards of security, reliability, and performance.Implement and manage robust cybersecurity measures, policies and protocols to protect sensitive client data and operational information in accordance with the Victorian Government's policy and regulatory requirements.Lead initiatives to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of legal service delivery through knowledge management, such as the use of AI tools, legal project management software, and e-discovery platforms.About you You are a strategic and innovative professional with a strong background in technology and people leadership.
You have experience working at a senior level, ideally within a legal or public sector environment, and are passionate about driving change and delivering high-quality outcomes.
You are collaborative, process improvement and customer centric-driven, and possess exceptional leadership skills.
Skills and experience Extensive senior management experience in leading high-performing technical teams.Proven experience in providing a strategic level of professional and technical ICT and knowledge management expertise to meet business needs.Proven track record in leading and implementing strategy and complex digital and information technology change and renewal initiatives including guiding others through the transition.Experience in building a customer-centric culture and delivering exceptional service to internal and external stakeholders.Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly.Tertiary qualifications in business administration, information management, or a related field (or relevant equivalent experience).Experience in knowledge management within a legal or professional services environment would be high desirable.Previous experience within a legal environment including document management systems, e-discovery tools, and client relationship management systems would be highly regarded.VGSO offers an inclusive, collegiate and collaborative work environment where you will be well-supported and mentored to develop your knowledge.
