ABOUT THE ROLE
As the Head of Teaching and Learning, you won't just oversee learning, you will redefine it.
In this hands-on role, you'll collaborate closely with your teams in the classroom, actively supporting and mentoring teachers to ensure effective planning, outstanding content delivery and most importantly student engagement.
You play a pivotal leadership role dedicated to nurturing the holistic growth and well-being of our students within a non-traditional educational framework.
The Head of Teaching and Learning will lead a dedicated team in creating a nurturing, inclusive, and empowering learning environment where every student can thrive socially, emotionally, and academically.
You will:
Inspire and lead innovative, non-traditional educational programs that challenge the status quo and encourage students to pursue their passions and explore diverse pathways to success.
You'll work closely with your staff on planning and preparation, ensuring our students stay fully engaged throughout their MOB journey.
Champion a student-centered, inclusive environment, where every learner feels valued, empowered, and able to achieve their potential.
Be a mentor and role model for both students and staff, leading by example and creating a positive, nurturing culture grounded in MOB's 5 Core Values.
Drive excellence by ensuring that QCAA curriculum and assessments are delivered with innovation, quality, and precision.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Bring fresh, forward-thinking approaches to teaching and learning that inspire both students and staff to excel.
Lead, develop and evaluate the quality of teaching, learning and assessment in the MOB Academy, within a positive culture of challenge and support.
QCAA – Oversee, develop and monitor - whole Academy curriculum planning and assessment, Year level curriculum and assessment planning, Teaching, Learning and Assessment plans (TLAPs) and Unit overviews.
Oversee the Individual Education Plan (IEP) process.
Model integrity, inclusiveness, and collaboration.
Build strong relationships, mentor your team, and guide them to reach new heights.
Lead and manage improvement, innovation and change strategically through planning, implementation, and evaluation processes with education team.
Work closely with MOB leadership team, to ensure department alignment to achieve MOB objectives and outcomes.
Provide professional development opportunities for teachers to explore innovative teaching practices and adapt to the evolving educational landscape.
Quality Assurance:
Oversee the integrity of assessments, reporting, and data accuracy, ensuring high standards of academic excellence.
Oversee and manage the MOB QCE and QCIA quality assurance process.
Quality assurance of lesson plans, term outlines, Teacher Learning and Assessment Plans (TLAPS).
Write and review education and curriculum policies.
Uphold policy and processes as they relate to the protection, safety, and wellbeing of children within MOB Academy.
QCAA – Quality Management system, ensuring the principles of quality assurance.
Lead the development, implementation, and evaluation of the MOB Education Framework to improve student outcomes and best practice for youth at risk.
Promote pedagogical 'risk taking' for best practice outcomes.
Support opportunities to improve subject area mastery and passion.
Operational Excellence:
Manage the smooth running of daily operations, from curriculum planning to timetabling, while fostering a sense of community amongst the education team and other departments.
Lead Administration personnel on timetable parameters.
REQUIREMENTS
Degree in Education, Special Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership role within a secondary education and/or alternative education setting, preferably serving students with complex needs.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a multidisciplinary team.
Ideally, experience in boys education.
Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in senior boys education, including Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
The position is Fulltime - Monday - Friday 8:30am – 3:30pm.
