About the role: The Head of Tax, reporting to the Group Financial Controller, is responsible for delivering tax advice and ensuring tax compliance for Origin and APLNG tax consolidated groups.
This role leads a team of tax professionals and manages the outsourced compliance function, working closely with internal and external stakeholders to enhance efficiency, reduce risks, and support the company's financial objective.
Manage and oversee tax compliance for Origin and APLNG, including income tax, FBT, GST, royalties, and employment tax.Lead tax reporting, including returns and R&D tax concessions, ensuring alignment with Australian and international laws.Advise on significant business transactions, conducting due diligence and managing legal documentation with external counsel.Implement improvements to tax processes and manage tax effect accounting, forecast tax, and other reporting needs.Engage with ATO and other authorities on compliance, audits, disputes, and tax reform discussions.Manage tax-related stakeholder communication, including with the business, tax authorities, and industry bodies.Develop and lead tax strategies aligned with Origin's goals, particularly in areas like renewable energy and energy efficiency.Lead, develop and engage team members, ensuring clarity in objectives, productivity, and collaboration on HSE standards.What will you bring? You will have over 15 years of experience in taxation, a qualified CPA/CA with a Masters in Tax or Chartered Tax adviser designation. Furthermore, you will demonstrate:
Strategic thinking and demonstrated ability to develop and execute financial strategies.Experience working with and managing Executive and Board-level stakeholders.Strong leadership, management and interpersonal skills with experience leading large teams.Deep industry knowledge in the energy and/or resources industry as well as relevant market trends, regulatory frameworks, and governance practices.Ability to operate effectively to tight deadlines in an environment of change.Proven experience writing reports and presenting to executive management.Demonstrated ability to understand key financial controls and processes.Origin - Where good change happens At Origin, we're powered by people who believe in creating change.
