Why your role matters Join our team at UNSW as the Head of Student Life, a pivotal leadership position within the Pro Vice-Chancellor Student Success portfolio. You will spearhead the strategic and operational direction of our Student Life strategy, collaborating closely with Faculties, Schools, and Divisions to enrich the student experience beyond the classroom.
Key Responsibilities: Strategic Leadership: Lead a multidisciplinary team in delivering comprehensive personal, financial, and social support services to enhance student wellbeing and success. Expert advice: Advise the Pro Vice-Chancellor and senior stakeholders on critical incident management, international student compliance, and support. Student Engagement and Support: Foster a sense of belonging by leading the development and implementation of innovative onboarding and transition and co-curricular student engagement activities as well as tailored support for diverse student communities. Collaboration: Work closely with divisional colleagues to ensure holistic support for at-risk students and equitable academic assistance. Critical Incident Management: Play a critical and leading role in the university's Critical Incident Management Team (CIMT), ensuring swift and effective responses to student incidents in alignment with university policies. About You: You will hold a relevant tertiary qualification with substantial relevant experience or equivalent competence gained through any combination of education, training and experience, in a transnational education (TNE) environment in an Australian context would be a distinct advantage alongside:
Experience: Significant leadership experience and strong discipline knowledge in the conceptual frameworks for social work, crisis management and case management of vulnerable or at-risk students particularly in the university environment. Strategic Vision: Proven ability to develop and implement strategic initiatives that enhance student engagement, participation and sense of belonging through access to support services and initiatives. Collaboration: Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills to work effectively with diverse senior stakeholders across the university. Policy Alignment: In-depth knowledge and application of university policies and procedures as well as legislation related to student support and well-being. Reporting Structure: Reporting directly to the Pro Vice-Chancellor, Student Success, the Head of Student Life oversees a team of 4 direct reports, playing a crucial role in shaping the university's commitment to student success and holistic development.
