The Organisation: The Victorian Ombudsman (VO) provides a free, independent, accessible and impartial service to the public.
Our purpose is to ensure fairness for the public in their dealings with the Victorian public sector, to improve public administration, and engage within both public organisations, the government sector and the broader community.
The VO's role is to ensure that the services of state and local government, and other public organisations are delivered in a fair and reasonable manner that is compatible with the Charter of Human Rights and Responsibilities Act 2006 (Vic) and that human rights have been taken into consideration in decision making.
The VO is governed by the Ombudsman Act 1973 (Vic).
The VO is independent of Government and answerable to the Victorian Parliament, in part through the Integrity and Oversight Committee of the Parliament.
The role: The Head of Strategy, Risk and Performance reports to the Executive Director, Corporate Services and performs a key role in organisational wide management of the development, maintenance, reporting on, advice provision and frameworks related to business insights, risk, compliance, governance and forecasting, including related policies and dashboards.
This strategic leader is viewed as a trusted advisor and strategic partner with a demonstrated ability to lift performance metrics with key internal stakeholders, improve overall business performance, and create a cohesive, high-performing team.
They skilfully navigate ambiguity and overcome organisational barriers or resistance to change whilst maintaining the credibility of the governance and reporting functions.
Success will be measured by the ability of the Head of Strategy, Risk and Performance and their team to strategically partner with a diverse range of stakeholders, to provide and deliver accessible, usable tools and metrics and a collegiate service, as they champion VO's culture and values.
This role will manage a small team of business insights intelligence, governance, risk, compliance and reporting professionals.
As a senior manager, the role contributes to the leadership of the Corporate Services Division.
