A temporary position exists for an outstanding and strategic Head of Special Education Services at Yarrabilba State Secondary College in Semester 1, 2025.
This opportunity requires the successful candidate to have strong flexibility, independence, relational leadership skills, change management and communication skills. As an instructional leader, the successful applicant will be focused on developing teacher teams who are problem-solvers with decision-making agility and risk-taking skills. In a busy and rapidly growing school,
YSSC HODs are required to lead and develop their own teams with confidence and resilience. The successful candidate will lead the inclusion culture across the school in delivering quality teaching and learning, assessment and reporting practices and nurturing positive relationships between students, teachers and stakeholders.

About the Role The Head of Special Education Services will have accountability for inclusive education practices across the College. The successful candidate will be an agile leader with a record of success in providing quality learning outcomes for all students and leading inclusive education initiatives with confidence and resilience.
As the Head of Special Education Services, you will play a vital role in:
Leading initiatives to support the educational outcomes of students Incorporating the vision of State Schools Division into school planning Developing the quality of teaching and learning Nurturing positive relationships between other Heads of Department, teachers, students, parents and other stakeholders. The successful candidate will work with Heads of Department, Guidance Officer, teachers and teacher aides in flexible learning environments designed to stimulate the imagination, encourage integration and collaboration and inspire experiential learning.
As the Head of Special Education Services, you will have responsibility for the following:
Leading the school inclusion team and all teachers, students and stakeholders to develop, articulate and commit to a shared educational vision focused on providing quality learning outcomes for all students. Forming partnerships with parents, other government agencies, and community groups. Understanding the legislation and policies that impact on schooling especially in relation to students with disability. Managing the human, financial, facilities and curriculum resources of the unit to achieve goals. Please refer to the attached role description for any mandatory requirements for this position.
