If successful, you will have functional and leadership responsibility for all Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) within BAE Systems Australian Maritime operational areas.Key responsibilities include:Motivate, excite, and inspire employees and operational leaders to ensure safety is a priority and to develop a safety culture through change efforts.Empower your team to reach their full potential by creating and implementing effective management systems.Act as a member of the business unit and Enterprise SHE Lead Team.Lead a team of SHE professionals and foster a safety-first mentality throughout the organisation.Develop and implement SHE strategies, policies, and processes that align with our business objectives.Collaborate with line leadership to manage risks and reduce incidents.Contribute to the development of national SHE strategies and policies.Provide expert SHE advice and support to the business unit.Interpret and apply rules and recommendations on hazard and risk management, as well as important control programs, with a focus on complicated, high-risk situations that can be managed at the operational level in order to meet safety KPIs.Support business unit and functional directors by analysing data to identify issues and trends and collaborates with them to implement effective risk-reduction policies.Provide operational input on the efficacy and compliance of the Enterprise SHE Management System and related activities produced from the SHE functional streams while supporting ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 certification.Lead major incident investigations and ensure that lessons learned are shared with the functional SHE stream.About YOUA tertiary qualification in Safety, Health & Environment or a related field such as environmental science or safety engineering is essential to provide the technical expertise and academic foundation required for this role.Demonstrated expertise in leading high-risk safety and environmental initiatives, shaping a culture of excellence and resilience.A natural ability to inspire and motivate teams, driving change with a strategic vision and unwavering commitment to safety.A profound grasp of safety principles, practices, and the complexities of high-risk environments, honed through years of leadership experience.Exceptional communication and influencing skills, fostering collaboration, building trust, and driving positive change.A comprehensive knowledge of relevant WHS legislation and standards, ensuring compliance and driving best practices.We believe in hiring for potential; we know that some candidates hesitate if they don't tick all the boxes.
