Reporting to the Deputy Principal, the Head of Senior School (Years 10-12) is a senior leadership position to support students in late adolescence to excel in their learning and, as they develop their strengths and skills, to promote wellbeing and active citizenship. This role manages all pastoral programs in the Senior School (Years 10 – 12) to ensure that student welfare and personal development is of the highest standard. The successful candidate will be well informed about future directions in pastoral care, student wellbeing, curriculum and learning, particularly in the areas of learning dispositions, integrated technology, and girls' education. The Head of Senior School will lead strategic projects to ensure St Hilda's School builds on their traditional foundations and remains at the forefront of innovation in girls' education, by inspiring women and ensuring every girl reaches her full potential.
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:
A commitment to the Anglican ethos and support of the St Hilda's School's vision, mission and value A well-informed, research-based understanding of student welfare, pastoral care, and age-appropriate learning and pedagogy to support academic wellbeing Experience as a Student Protection Officer with understanding of relevant legislation and reporting requirements and the utmost confidentiality and discretion around sensitive welfare matters Proven senior leadership experience in the operational management of the senior years day-to-day activities Effective communication skills (verbal and written) with the ability to foster a collaborative environment and inspire staff and students to reach their potential High-level critical thinking with capacity and agility to positively embrace, lead and manage change and drive creative endeavours
