Reporting to the Executive General Manager – People, Culture & Community, the role will take overall responsibility to shape, develop and implement safety policies and systems to minimize workplace hazards, protect employees from harm and foster a culture of safety within the organisation.Airport Development Group owns and manages diverse infrastructure assets across the Northern Territory, including airports, hotels, aviation, and commercial buildings, and has ambitious plans to expand into Western Australia and Queensland. ADG are seeking a high-calibre professional with extensive experience in Safety management within a complex infrastructure management business who can work with various stakeholders to enhance and enforce ADG's safety culture, regulatory compliance and outcomes.This is a fantastic opportunity for the ideal candidate to be the architect of the ADG safety framework and become a part of ADG during an exciting phase of expansion. ADG welcomes applicants willing to relocate to Cairns, while also recognising the necessity for periodic travel to various ADG operational locations across Northern Australia and others.About you:Possessing tertiary qualifications in a safety and a relevant fieldStrong analytical and investigation skills, and expertise in risk assessments, safety data analysis, interviewing skills, root cause analysis and report writingSolid understanding of safety regulations and problem-solving abilities to develop effective corrective actions and prevent future incidentsExtensive practical experience and expertise in designing, implementing, developing and managing Health and Safety systems and standards in a multidisciplinary environmentExcellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills to manage and develop a team of Health and Safety professionals in complex safety situationsHolds a current driver's license, eligible for an Aviation Security Identification Card, and can pass an Australian Federal Police checkThe role:The Head of Safety will lead by example, shape and promote safety as a core value, encourage employee involvement in safety initiatives, recognize achievements, and continuously improve safety practicesCommunicate and articulate the organization's safety vision, set and enforce standards, and encourage team involvement in safety initiatives and idea-sharingEngage relevant stakeholders and address safety issues with management, share safety information with employees, contractors, and industry stakeholders, and collaborate across all business units to achieve key objectivesDesign, govern, and maintain Health and Systems management frameworks, standards, processes, and tools to support and assure ADG's strong safety culture across all existing and new business areas and infrastructure assetsDevelop and monitor WHS performance against budgets and business plans, reporting cycles, conduct safety and quality audits, and support third-party regulatory auditsIdentify and manage safety and compliance risks using the ADG Risk Management Framework, promoting a safety-conscious culture by addressing environmental and safety risksFollow Cyber Security Apply ADG Policy and Guidelines to identify and respond to cyber security threatsWhat's in it for you?The position will be in Cairns, Queensland.A newly established role affording you the opportunity to initiate change and shape Safety.Exciting period of growth ahead.Professional, diverse and people-orientated culture.Competitive salary and benefits package.Please be assured that all applications and communications are kept completely confidential at all times.
