Risk Management is responsible for developing and deploying the risk frameworks to allow the Group to take conscious exposures to credit, market, operational, compliance and insurance risks within a Board-approved appetite.
RBS Risk Management supports RBS in effectively optimising returns while managing risk within its appetite. We provide operational and compliance risk advice and oversight, develop and implement credit strategy and credit analytics and implement Group risk frameworks within RBS.

The Credit Strategy and Assurance team covers credit risk management strategy and portfolio oversight across all retail products. Our purpose is to:
Perform assurance reviews in line with the Risk Management Assurance Plan.Provide advice, review and challenge of material changes across retail products.Set credit risk appetite.Engage with and provide insights for key financial risk regulators (APRA, ASIC, AFCA and RBA).Your Impact:
The Head of Retail Credit Strategy and Assurance will direct and manage the credit risk retail, corporate or policy team in developing and implementing management systems and processes used to optimise credit risk across the credit lifecycle. In your role, you will provide insights, decisions, guidance and challenge to business partners, customers and stakeholders.
Manages the execution of sound credit decisioning or implementation of strategies to manage exposure in line with risk frameworks.Monitors portfolio level credit risk exposures to ensure that they are within limit thresholds.Establishes credit risk tolerance limits and develops credit risk management policy & standards consistent with industry best practice in consultation with business unit leadership.Manages the framework for the measurement of appetite against limit framework.Provides strategic insights and analysis to business unit partners and senior management on credit related issues.Provides practical recommendations to ensure credit risks are appropriately managed, measured, and monitored.Develops action plans with the business unit to resolve key issues regarding the management of credit risk exposure.Implements complex and significant credit management projects.Develops complex analytical credit risk metrics, technology-based tools and undertakes data analysis to monitor, measure, and manage credit risk exposures.Manages teams productively to meet deadlines and deliver value add insights; develops technical and organisational capability of the team.Researches and evaluates credit risk best practices for the investments organisation and other related business activities; monitors risk management policies, methodologies, procedures, limits, and guidelines. Provides insights to senior management and the business.Provides guidance and challenge to business partners, customers and stakeholders including client engagement.Prepares / presents governance papers and engages in senior forums as well as industry roundtables for external perspective.We're interested in hearing from people who have: Demonstrated experience in retail banking and risk management with a focus on credit strategy and assurance.Proven leadership and coaching skills to develop a high-performing team of risk professionals.Strong relationship-building and influencing skills to drive effective risk outcomes and stakeholder engagement.Experience in process improvement and project management with commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.Ability to simplify complex processes and identify balanced solutions for diverse stakeholders.Expert knowledge of retail banking product suite.High proficiency in communication, including data risk and/or analysis and reporting.We support our people with the flexibility to balance where work is done with at least half their time each month connecting in office.
