We are looking for someone with extensive experience in policy and communications to join our extraordinary and close-knit team at EWOV.
Who we are:
The Energy and Water Ombudsman (Victoria) (EWOV) is a not-for-profit, independent and impartial dispute resolution service. We proudly provide Victorian energy and water consumers with free, accessible, and informal dispute resolution.
Your new role and team: As the Head of Public Affairs, you will play a vital role in developing, implementing and managing EWOV's policy initiatives and communication strategies in a fast-paced, highly dynamic policy environment. You will report to the General Manager – Legal, Regulatory and Public Affairs, helping to build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, and be responsible for leading EWOV's internal and external communication strategies.
In this role, you will lead a team of policy advisers, analysts and communication specialists as part of a wider multidisciplinary team. You will use your unique perspective and data from across energy and water markets to develop insights, analysis and strategic advice for internal and external audiences, including the Ombudsman and Senior Leadership Team.
This position offers full-time hours, with potential consideration for part-time arrangement for the right candidate.
What you'll bring:
To be successful in this role, you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in policy, law, business administration, communication, marketing or a related fieldExtensive experience in policy and communications, preferably in the energy or water sectorsExperience in managing regulatory or policy projectsAn in depth understanding of the way in which policy is made and the ability to influence policy decision makingSenior experience with internal and external stakeholder engagementFamiliarity with the energy and water regulatory environmentExcellent communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, with a focus on building and maintaining relationshipsSenior experience in developing and overseeing strategic communications, both external and internalExemplary written and verbal communication skills including ability to adapt style to different audiences.Understanding of the role of Ombudsman schemes and alternative dispute resolutionA proven team leaderAbility to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneouslyStrong strategic thinking capability and a proactive approach to problem solving.What makes working with us great:
