The King's College is a Pre-kindergarten to Year 12 coeducational school with a current enrolment of 900 students, situated in Wellard in the southern corridor of the metropolitan area. The College is growing in size, and a new Primary School opened in Term 1, 2024. The College is a ministry of The King's Chapel and has been offering quality education in the area since 1986.
The College's vision is to provide a Christian education and train its students to "be exceptional". Students need to believe they can improve and are not locked into certain levels of achievement. This requires a growth mindset from students that is supported by their teachers.
The King's College is committed to ensuring child safety in every aspect of College life. The enrolment policy is one of inclusion, and this is reflected in the number of students from culturally diverse backgrounds.
About this role Applicants are sought from qualified and experienced individuals with a demonstrated commitment to a Christian and Biblical worldview. As such, a reference is required from a pastor or minister.
The King's College Head of Primary Skills and experience Be a Christian actively serving in a local Church, sharing a personal relationship with Jesus Christ.Adhere to the 'Staff Code of Conduct', 'Child Safe Policy' and 'Statement of Affirmation of Faith'.Promote the College in the community and surrounding districts.Ability to communicate effectively with staff, students, families and team members.Recognised teaching Qualification and current TRB registration.Excellent communication (both written and verbal) and interpersonal skills to enable professional interaction with a range of people including parents and support staff.Demonstrated ability to work as part of a collaborative, multi–disciplinary team.A current Working with Children Check and National Police Clearance.Become an active team member within the College, consistent with its vision and mission.Selection Criteria 1. Alignment with Christian Values: Demonstrated active support and commitment to the ethos and values of Christian education, evidenced through previous experience or involvement in Christian educational settings.The candidate should showcase an understanding of how these values translate into curriculum development and teaching practices within a primary school context.2. Leadership Experience and Pedagogical Knowledge: Proven ability to provide effective leadership in all aspects of the role, including curriculum development and implementation.The candidate should possess a comprehensive knowledge and understanding of effective primary school pedagogy, including familiarity with the Western Australian Curriculum and contemporary teaching methodologies.3. Strategic Thinking and Change Management: Capacity for strategic thinking and the ability to implement change within a primary school environment.The candidate should demonstrate experience in developing and executing strategic initiatives aimed at improving teaching and learning outcomes, as well as fostering innovation and continuous improvement.4. Staff Development and Mentoring Skills: Strong skills in developing staff through coaching and mentoring, evidenced by successful experiences in supporting professional growth and development among teaching staff.The candidate should demonstrate the ability to mentor, support, and challenge staff to continually strive for improvement, fostering a supportive and collegial professional environment.5. Communication: Demonstrated ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels, from senior leadership to frontline staff.Showing a calm and thoughtful approach to resolving conflicts between colleagues, students, and the wider college community.Demonstrating an ability to maintain positive relationships over time, both professionally and personally, which is essential for building trust and rapport.6.
