The RFDS WA is looking for a Head of Paramedicine and Industrial Health to take charge of an exciting new chapter! About the Role In this role, you'll lead a dynamic and highly skilled multidisciplinary team dedicated to making RFDS WA the sector leader in industrial health service delivery. You'll be working side-by-side key organisational leaders including the Heads of Medical, Clinical Education, Organisational Performance, Operations and Commercial Growth and Development to enable the strategic growth of the program. You'll also be the go-to expert for:
Building an empowered, high-performing team of paramedics, nurses, and emergency service officers.Developing innovative strategies to push the boundaries of paramedicine within the organisation including industrial health, primary care and aeromedical services.Setting and leading industry standards for our team of emergency service professionals.Strengthening connections with key stakeholders across the resource sector, in research, clinical quality, and health service development.Driving high-quality clinical services to ensure we're not only meeting but exceeding client expectations and industry standards.About You You're not just experienced in paramedicine—you're passionate about it. You'll be a visionary for your profession and know how to bring out the best in your team and organisation. You will have strong leadership and operational management skills, with proven experience in delivering clinical services in rural, remote and culturally diverse settings. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to engage with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
This role will occasionally require site visits and operational support, so being ready to jump in wherever needed is key!
As far as credentials and experience goes, we expect you to have:
A current registration with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA) as a Registered Paramedic and substantive (10+ years) experience in on-road or flight paramedicine.Demonstrable understanding of clinical governance, risk management and strategic development.Knowledge of workforce management in the resource sector.Experience delivering services in regional and remote environments.Exceptional communication skills in order to influence and enable changes in practice modelsBuilt coalitions with commercial and community stakeholders to design and deliver a high-quality service.Proven ability to write compelling business cases and facilitate executive and board level decision making.Proven experience in building and leading teams.Benefits Permanent full-time positionCompetitive salarySalary packaging – up to $15,900 per annum for everyday expenses and up to $2,650 per annum on meals and entertainment expensesNovated Lease optionsHybrid work environment and flexible hours (work from home options available)Jandakot based officeFree parkingAbout Us The mission of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (Western Operations) is to provide excellence in aeromedical and primary health care across Western Australia. Every member of the RFDS WO team contributes to that mission and living our values of showing respect, demonstrating fairness, utilising diversity and being safe. Every year, the RFDS WO provides urgent retrieval for about 10,000 patients in regional WA. A further 10,000 appointments are provided in primary healthcare clinics in remote communities, including GP, nurse, dental and mental health care. RFDS crews are committed to providing the finest care to the furthest corners of the State, using the highest standards of clinical care, aviation safety and technology to make a difference to people living and working across WA – the largest and most remote health jurisdiction in the world.
The RFDS in WA operates five bases in Perth, Broome, Port Hedland, Kalgoorlie and Meekatharra. Our 24/7 operations centre at Jandakot Airport coordinates complex logistics for patient retrievals and clinics across the State. We work in partnership with government, business and the community, and are proud to work on Country with Aboriginal medical services and many local service providers.
In 2024, the RFDS is launching a new five-year strategy 'Above and Beyond', which will mark an important new chapter in the long Flying Doctor history. The strategy will include a focus on expanding remote health clinics in some of WA's most vulnerable communities, expanding our profit-for-purpose services, strengthening our workforce, harnessing technology and addressing our environmental sustainability.
