Our client, located in the Camden Council region, is a vertically integrated business that manufactures its own premium skincare products and high-end brands that are marketed both locally in Australia and Internationally.
The Role:
Reporting directly to the CEO and CFO The Head of Manufacturing plays a critical role in overseeing the end-to-end manufacturing process, including sourcing raw materials and packaging, logistics and transportation (both inbound and outbound), warehousing, and skincare production and quality control.
You will be responsible for leading the Manufacturing facility team and coordinating with resources at head office (Located in Sydney) to achieve operational excellence, aligning with the Business Plan, and fostering a high-performing organisational culture.
You will have direct reports including Production Manager, Shift Managers, Warehouse Manager, Laboratory Manager and Quality Assurance Managers.
You will manage a single shift operation (8:30am - 4:30pm) consisting of 4 main production lines, 2 X packaging lines, automated and semi-automated machinery and a production team of 15 staff.
Responsibilities: Strategic LeadershipManage overall manufacturing operations to achieve high quality output at optimal costReview end-to-end processes and recommend a manufacturing strategyProvide operational and strategic updates to the BoardCreate role clarity for supply chain, logistics and manufacturing roles within the organisation
Manufacturing Operations and Process Improvement Lead initiatives to enhance production capabilities, quality standards, and cost efficiencyDesign and implement plans for the optimal use of materials and labour to satisfy production growth targetsOversee the implementation of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)Oversee the procurement of raw materials and equipment, ensuring effective inventory managementMonitor production processes and adjust operations as neededTeam Leadership Directly supervise the laboratory teamManage staff recruitment, orientation, performance, and succession planningDevelop leadership capacity to meet future business needsFoster high team morale and promote a positive workplace cultureLead change management initiatives when implementing new systems and processesStakeholder Collaboration Collaborate with marketing and sales teams to enhance product marketabilityMaintain relationships with key external stakeholders, including 3rd party clientsSafety, Compliance, and Maintenance Schedule and oversee the maintenance of production equipment and machineryEnsure compliance with operating policies, safety measures, and all regulatory and certification standardsGMP audit oversight and ensure compliance with accreditations and regulatory requirementsResponsibility for QA and QC To be successful in this role: You will be a strategic leader with a focus on leading by example through supporting, mentoring, coaching and developing your team.You will have excellent experience of both QA and QC and working closely and alongside laboratory teams in creating solutions for new and existing customersChange Management and Continuous improvement will be natural traits and passions of yoursYou will have an excellent industry network and the ability to develop new client relationships as well as maintain and grow current the client base.Your experience will align with the below: Proven experience in manufacturing leadership roles, within the skincare, cosmetics, or pharmaceuticals industryBachelor of Business/Engineering or relevant Science Degree is highly desirable.5+ years' experience as a senior manager10+ years in a Chemical, Pharma or FMCG manufacturing environmentExperience in industrial automation role will be highly regardedProven experience in Continuous Improvement methodologiesSafety leadership, workplace culture, management of major emergencies and emergency preparedness are essentialPrevious experience in a leadership role in a MHF (major hazard facility) will be highly regardedProficient in process safety concepts, safety science (e.g.
New View, Safety II, HRO, HOP) hazard awareness and safety management systemsExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsTrack record of cultivating high performing teams through empowerment
