We are united by a common goal - We aspire to be bold and innovative in everything we do! Position OverviewHOTA is seeking a dedicated and experienced Head of Lighting to join our team. This pivotal role focuses on delivering high-quality technical production services in lighting for a variety of live performances and events across a variety of venues. The successful candidate will provide operational guidance and foster a collaborative environment that prioritises excellence and safety.
Key Responsibilities:Team Leadership: Manage and lead the Lighting team to provide expert technical support and guidance to both internal and external stakeholders.Equipment Management: Oversee department operations, event setup, and maintenance of lighting, SFX systems and equipment.Documentation and Planning: Interpret and create essential technical documents such as lighting plans, event equipment allocations, event crew resourcing, provide detailed recommendations for immediate and long term upgrades and manage lighting annual operational budget.Training and Development: Provide peer-to-peer training and mentoring to maintain high skill levels within the department. Your guidance will be key in fostering professional growth among team members.WHS Standards: Uphold relevant technical and Workplace Health & Safety (WHS) standards. You will contribute to the ongoing development of WHS awareness and best practices.Dynamic Environment: Be comfortable working in a fast-paced live event setting, adapting to irregular hours, physical work, and performance deadlines.Minimum Requirements:Experience: Minimum of 5 years in a lead role with lighting systems for live events, demonstrating comprehensive knowledge of professional theatrical lighting systems.Technical Proficiency: Ability to interpret and create relevant event documents and implement technical lighting production requirements, including lighting system design, lighting design, programming and operation.Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication abilities, with a track record of delivering high levels of service and presentation while collaborating effectively with teams, presenters, and hirers.Leadership Experience: Proven capability in leading small teams, mentoring others, ensuring efficient execution of tasks and leading by example.Safety Knowledge: Strong understanding of policies and safe work practices, particularly in relation to WHS standards.Physical Fitness: Ability to work at heights and in confined spaces safely.Technical Knowledge: Demonstrated proficiency with computer-related technology relevant to the role.Qualifications: Relevant certifications or extensive experience within the entertainment industry are required, along with a current driver's license and an Elevated Work Platform license.Benefits:Discounts across all Food and Beverage outlets across the HOTA precinctDiscounted tickets (Cinema, Events and Activities)4 days of Empowerment Time per year - to focus on personal growth and wellbeing!Sonder – our team member care systemAccess to Learning Lab – enhancing development opportunities with up to 1000 coursesHow to Apply:If you're passionate about making a difference and want to be part of an organisation that prioritises people, we'd love to hear from you!
