Reporting to the Regional Head of Legal Asia Pacific and the Chief Executive Officer, Australia you will be responsible for the day-to-day leadership of the Legal and Corporate Secretariat functions of Allianz Partners Australia.The role of Head of Legal – Australia includes but is not limited to:RoleThe day-to-day operational leadership of the Allianz Partners Australian Legal team;Delivering a platform for the provision of superior legal services to Allianz Partners Australia to support the execution of its corporate strategy and facilitate sustainable, lawful business growth;Supporting the Regional Head of Legal and General Counsel – Asia Pacific with the provision of strategic legal and governance advice to the Allianz Partners Australia Board of Directors, CEO and Executive Committee;Developing, mentoring and empowering a team of Senior Lawyers, Lawyers and Corporate Secretariat professionals;Contributing as a member of the Allianz Partners APAC legal leadership team;Supporting Global AzP and Allianz SE initiatives from time to time as required;Building strong trust-based relationships with peers within Allianz Australia Insurance Limited, Peoplecare Health Limited and across AzP's global legal function.Key responsibilities include:Legal Support ServicesLeading a best in class in-house legal team that provides independent, timely, strategic legal and governance advice to support Allianz Partners Australia's sustainable and lawful growth ambitions;Providing clear and succinct professional written and oral legal advice that supports the strategic objectives of Allianz Partners Australia and drives lawful, sustainable business growth;Facilitating training on legal topics across Allianz Partners Australia as required;Maintaining an appropriate panel of external legal providers while managing panel firms to budget;Assessing the legal implications and providing options and solutions for the development of new business opportunities in Australia;Undertaking a 'Legal Watch' program to identify legislative and regulatory change that impacts Allianz Partners Australia;Developing standard legal documentation and deploying efficiency initiatives for use within Allianz Partners Australia;Actively managing legal team budget to target;Complying with the AzP Corporate Rule Book, policies and procedures.SecretariatOverseeing and leading the Corporate Secretariat and Governance function of Allianz Partners Australia;Along with the Regional Head of Legal and General Counsel – Asia Pacific, act as a sounding board for the Company Secretary on corporate secretariat and governance matters as required.What you bring:Admission as an Australian Legal Practitioner with 10+ years experience gained in private practice and in-house;Working knowledge of law and legislation relevant to the Australian Financial Services industry including but not limited to the Corporations Act, ASIC Act, Insurance Contracts Act, Australian Consumer Law, the General Insurance Code of Practice and Private Health Insurance Act;Experience leading teams engaged in the provision of independent, timely, strategic legal and governance advice, preferably within a global matrix organisation;Able to rapidly establish priorities, work under pressure, meet deadlines and exercise sound judgement;Ability to rapidly build strong trust-based relationships within and outside of Allianz Partners;Problem Solving & Decision Making SkillsApply rigorous process and logic to solve difficult problems and find effective solutions;Ability to interrogate a problem and develop processes that engage and educate staff.ProfessionalProven high level of professionalism, maturity and candour in daily work ethic;Demonstrated leadership capability with the ability to empower and motivate staff;Approachable, affable and confident.CommunicationSuperior communication skills with the ability to influence and build effective trust-based relationships across all levels of the business;An intuitive thinker – able to adapt and tailor communications to appropriate audiences;Proven written and verbal communication skills.What we offerOur employees play an integral part in our success as a business.
