The Head of Learning Support will lead and work with the Education Support team to provide support to children with learning difficulties or delays so they can access and participate fully in their schooling. The Head of Learning Support will also work with classroom teachers to ensure support for students with learning difficulties or delays is effective and tailored to students' specific needs.While a permanent role at the College, the Head of Learning Support position is a tenured position for one year.The position attracts an allowance in line with College responsibility allowances.Hold relevant qualifications and certifications in education and/or a current VIT registration.Be an experienced leader adept at leading, coaching and motivating a team to succeed.Have experience in developing, delivering, monitoring and evaluating high quality teaching and learning curriculum programs with a continuous improvement mindset.Have exceptional communication and relationship management skills that lead to strong, respectful and sustainable relationships being formed across all key stakeholders including young people and families from different economic, social and cultural backgrounds.Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident only.The successful applicant will be:A dedicated leader with a high level of communication skills, interpersonal skills and professional behaviour as evidenced by the development of constructive relationships with students and parents and positive relationships with colleagues and the wider community.Committed to ongoing professional development and growth of both self and team.Well organised and flexible.Possess and encourage a growth mindset.Patient and relationship-oriented.Enthusiastic and conscientious.Professional presentation and manner.Actively pursue excellence.Duties include:Implementation and follow up on completion of the Learning Plans for each student (Years F-12).Review programs/concerns with learning support team, making improvements where necessary.Provide information, where relevant, to Wellbeing Team members and Careers Coordinator to support applications for special consideration (e.g., special provisions, SEAS applications through VTAC).Inspire, direct, support and assist staff to plan and deliver effective individual learning programs.Maintain and regularly review student data, documentation and plans linked to NCCD, ILP's and IEP's.Liaise with onsite (e.g., speech pathology, counsellors, etc.) and external support services to ensure appropriate and timely intervention.Coordinate and submit all ISV speech funding applications by the due dates.Coordinate and manage WISC assessments and student support services as required for all funded students.Work with the Principal Team, Heads of Schools and Year Level teams to help facilitate testing, NCCD applications and Individual Learning/Education Plans.Coordinate and manage the NCCD funding process.Assist with communication between students, teachers and parents/carers, including providing reports as required.Prepare the timetables for all Education Support staff.Oversee the work of Education Support staff, mentor Education Support staff and assist Principal Team in the appraisal of Education Support staff.The Head of Learning Support and Education Support staff can be asked to assist with incursions, excursions, College events and other tasks assigned by the Principal Team or Heads of Schools.Other responsibilities assigned by the College Principal.General InformationSupport the vision, mission, ethos and culture of the College.Contribute to and support the strategic directions of the College.Support and adhere to all College policies.Child Safety Statement:Mt Hira College is committed to the safety and wellbeing of all children by providing a child safe environment.
