The People Unit at UTS is a dynamic part of the Operations Division, providing strategic advice, operational support, and employee services across UTS. To set it up for future success, the unit has recently undergone an operating model change, creating the new role of Head of Learning and Organisation Development.
The Role
Reporting to the Executive Director, People and Culture, the Head of Learning and Organisation Development will lead a team of 7 members, including 3 direct reports. This role ensures that the University's workforce remains skilled, adaptable, and engaged, responsible for leading the strategic planning, development, and implementation of comprehensive learning and organisational development programs.
Responsibilities:
Craft a comprehensive learning and Organisation Development strategy aligned with university goals. Develop and maintain the UTS Organisation Design framework process and tools. Ensure integration of Workforce plans into Workday Establishment and organisation management processes. Design, implement, and evaluate training and development programs to address skill gaps. Develop programs for grooming leadership talent, including succession planning and mentorship initiatives. Collaborate with Strategic Business Partners to improve organisational effectiveness and employee engagement. Establish performance management systems that support learning and development goals. Identify high-potential employees and design succession plans to retain top talent. Leverage learning technology tools to deliver effective learning experiences. Utilise data analytics to measure the effectiveness of learning programs. Build strong relationships with key stakeholders to align initiatives with university objectives. Ensure compliance of learning programs with laws and regulations. The role is based at UTS's City Campus in Ultimo.
The Candidate
To be successful in this role, you will be a proven Learning and Organisation Development leader with the ability to build effective relationships and influence key stakeholders. You will demonstrate:
A minimum of 10 years of experience in learning and development or organisational development. Outstanding communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills. Strong strategic thinking and planning abilities. Proven experience in designing and implementing successful learning programs. Strong knowledge of adult learning principles and best practices. Strong people management skills and experience leading Learning and Organisation Development teams. Demonstrated ability to lead and influence change in a complex organisation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Ability to build collaborative relationships across diverse groups. Commitment to fostering an inclusive learning environment. Strong project management skills and attention to detail. Proficiency in using learning management systems. Master's degree in Organisation Psychology, Human Resources, or a related field.
