Salary: Level 3, $125,850 - $137,715 per annum (pro-rata) (SEA GA 2021)
This is a permanent full-time position commencing Term 1, 2025 Kent Street Senior High School (SHS) is proud to be an Independent Public School, located within 5 kilometres of the Perth CBD.
We cater for a diverse clientele, many who travel great distances to engage in our Approved Specialist Programs or reside at the Rotary Residential College located onsite.
We also work as part of the Curtin Education Community to actively engage our local primary schools in the Victoria Park area, with the ultimate aim that Kent Street SHS becomes their recognised and respected secondary school of choice.
Kent Street SHS is seeking a highly motivated, energetic and innovative Head of Learning Area (HoLA) – Mathematics to provide exemplary team leadership to maximise outcomes for all students.
The successful applicant will ideally provide purposeful and focused leadership to the Mathematics team as well as establish accountability for the effective daily management of the Mathematics learning area.
With the ability to lead change and innovation, you will ideally use evidence-based data to inform all decision making.
The successful applicant will be responsible for the management of a collaborative and innovative team.
You should display a high level of understanding of the Australian Professional Teacher and Leadership Standards, the Western Australian curriculum, and innovative practice in the teaching of Mathematics.
As the successful applicant, you should continually drive improvement by providing effective proactive leadership that is strategic, inspiring and supportive.
In this role you will be responsible for the analysis of performance data related to the Mathematics learning area.
You should be able to provide effective leadership, with the creation of strategic plans that inform the learning area and impact classroom practice whilst addressing the priorities of the school and the contextual needs of the learning area.
The successful applicant should have effective interpersonal skills that will lead the team's implementation of contemporary pedagogies which are responsive to the needs of the 21st century learner and through the provision of expert curriculum leadership and instructional strategies to ensure that all teachers are delivering quality teaching and learning programs that meet the individual needs of students through problem-based learning, curiosity for learning and deep learning pedagogy.
The successful applicant will be responsible for leading reflective performance and development processes through coaching, developing an ethos of teacher self-reflection, feedback, data analysis and a review of formative assessment practices.
Facilitating the implementation of high impact teaching strategies, classroom observation and a professional learning community as both a leader and a participant, you should also model highly reflective practices as a highly effective instructional leader.
The HoLA will, in collaboration with the Principal and members of the senior leadership team, provide educational leadership in the school and the community by developing and promoting the school vision and encouraging school staff and others to share ownership of the school's vision and goals.
