Independent Public School - Southwest Education RegionBusselton Senior High SchoolHead of Learning Area - Mathematics00000303Level 3, $125,850 - $137,715 per annum (SEA GA 2021)Advertised Vacancy Number: IPS/SA886844This is a three (3) month fixed term, full-time position commencing Term 3, 2024 with possible (12 months) extension and/or permanency.Busselton Senior High School (SHS) is seeking an innovative educator and leader to take on the role of Head of Learning Area (HoLA) – Mathematics (Math).In this role, you will be a key member of the school leadership team with the skills to be innovative, future-focused and committed to making a difference in the lives of young people. You will be able to build positive professional relationships, be an expert classroom practitioner with a passion for math and excellence in teaching. The HoLA - Mathematics should be able to manage their resilience and have the skills to conduct clear conversations when necessary. Another important aspect of the position will be the ability to understand the wider school context and constructively work with other HoLAs and the administration team to achieve broader school objectives.
In partnership with teachers, you will continue building a culture of quality teaching across the learning area that supports the learning needs of all students. You will have experience leading curriculum development and share our commitment to our community that every child will receive a high-quality education and leave our school with choices and opportunities for the future.The successful applicant will provide curriculum leadership to teachers and facilitate teaching and learning outcomes through effective performance and development, modelling and promoting a culture of improvement.As an Independent Public School, our challenge is to plan for educational change in a rapidly evolving and growing community. Concurrently, the traditions and history of the school need to be honoured and preserved.The location and communityBusselton SHS is situated in a coastal town in the South West of Western Australia. The school was established in 1958 and has served the community for over 60 years. Busselton SHS has a proud history with fine traditions in place, created by the various student bodies over time, along with a loyal, dedicated staff. A new and invigorated administrative and executive team are building upon our past achievements.This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.To be suitable for this role, you will need to demonstrate the following work related requirements:Capacity to provide effective leadership in a diverse range of educational settings;High level of interpersonal and public relations skills that demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships to achieve planned outcomes;Professional knowledge and the ability to apply this knowledge to ensure a high level of educational outcomes for all students (e.g. Aboriginal students, students from diverse ethnic backgrounds and students with special needs);Capacity to manage staff, physical and financial resources.Applications will be assessed against the work related requirements of the position.
