The Opportunity:
As Head of Laboratories, you will manage the day-to-day operations and strategic direction of our client's laboratory services. You will work closely with the Deputy CEO and CEO, identifying inefficiencies, driving innovation, and implementing plans that align with the organisation's vision and goals.
In collaboration with the Quality Manager, Chief Technology Officer and wider leadership team, you will ensure the highest standards in lab practices are met with all regulatory standards and will sustain their laboratory accreditation.
You will lead and support a large, dedicated team of laboratory managers, scientists, and technical staff, building their capabilities and ensuring all staff feel genuinely mentored, supported, developed, and valued. In collaboration with the senior leadership and executive team, you will cultivate a high-performance culture focused on growth. Essential to this role's success, you will also build strong relationships with the Pathologists and help manage their roster, leave calendar and daily operation requirements.
Managing the laboratory P&L to optimum return.Oversee daily laboratory operations, ensuring all processes are efficient, compliant, and aligned with quality and best practices.Ensure there are agreed measures set to track and drive the right operational outcomes (e.g. case turnaround time and cost per case metrics).Oversee the functional elements involved with managing the micro, parasitology and viral teams.Ensure the laboratory is able to meet the daily service needs and responsibilities.Manage laboratory resources, including personnel, rosters, equipment, and budgets, to ensure optimal performance.Lead the implementation of new technologies, methodologies, and testing procedures to improve service delivery.We are looking for a skilled communicator to represent our client externally, enhancing our client's presence and advocating for their business alongside the senior leaders. Proven track record in driving operational improvements and leading strategic growth initiatives.Experience working in a Histology Laboratory in a similar position will be highly regarded.Highly capable of leading cross-functional teams and managing multiple priorities.A natural brand ambassador – you are energised by opportunities to present externally, advocate for the practice and speak to the values and objectives of the business.Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate across all levels.You have great judgement and possess a high level of commercial acumen.Strong and effective project management skills.Skilled at conveying complex information clearly to diverse stakeholders.Importantly, you are adaptable and open to change, with the ability to manage change effectively in a fast-paced, evolving industry.
