We're driven by innovation and are proud that the technologies in our products and brands, like COLORBOND® steel, inspire and protect everything from hospitals and bridges to stadiums and homes.Job DescriptionAs a member of our Legal team, and based in our Melbourne CBD office, the Head of Investigations – Ethics and Compliance reports to the Head of Ethics and Compliance and is responsible for ensuring that investigations are led consistently, efficiently, and effectively.A key component of the Head of Investigations role is to draw on developments in global best practice, regulatory guidance, and learnings from investigations to drive positive change and continuous improvement, in consultation with the business.Responsibilities include:Delivery of complex/serious business conduct investigations in line with the Investigations protocol and best practice.Oversee other relevant business-led investigations across BlueScope's global footprint in consultation with the senior leaders in the business.Identify key emerging issues and trends in investigations and reviews and make recommendations to address gaps in controls or manage risk.Guide, train, and support BlueScope personnel responsible for conducting business-led investigations.Lead and manage external counsel/forensic investigators where investigations are outsourced.Liaison with Law Enforcement or other agencies where serious business misconduct involving BlueScope employees are reported to or identified by an internal investigation.Report quarterly to the Risk and Sustainability Committee on serious/complex business conduct investigations across the company, including likely outcomes, and on trends in enforcement.Ensuring strong document management processes around investigationsRepresent BlueScope Ethics & Compliance at external engagements and relevant forums.Lead the implementation of best practice investigative processes and foster a culture of continuous improvement.Elevate the profile and knowledge of Speak Up, How We Work and the Code of Conduct.Administer the BlueScope Speak Up external reporting hotlineQualificationsThis role requires a nuanced skill set tailored to navigate the complexities of conducting thorough and effective investigations across diverse geographical and cultural landscapes. Integral to success in this role is a foundation of investigative expertise, encompassing proficiency in conducting internal enquiries, fraud examinations, and compliance audits. This expertise should be complemented by an understanding of legal frameworks, enabling the interpretation and application of laws and regulations governing corporate conduct across various jurisdictions. Effective communication skills are paramount, facilitating the clear articulation of findings to senior stakeholders and fostering collaboration with colleagues worldwide. Ultimately, the success of this role hinges on your ability to navigate the intricate interplay of legal, cultural, and operational dynamics inherent in a multinational investigative landscape.You will also have:.Appropriate tertiary qualifications or proven experience working in government and/or corporate investigations.Demonstrated experience in the application and interpretation of legislation, interviewing, data analysis and reporting.Extensive knowledge and expertise in running investigations, ideally globally or in multiple jurisdictions across multiple areas of risk.Comprehensive understanding of contemporary investigations processes, practices.Experience in 'high risk' investigations including bribery and corruption, competition, continuous disclosure, insider trading or fraud investigationsStrong understanding of legal privilege or the ability to acquire the knowledge quickly.Experience in dealing with investigations of misconduct under Australian law, and under the laws of foreign jurisdictions.Additional InformationA career at BlueScope provides the opportunity to make a difference – to you, to your team, to our customers, to transforming products, processes and brands, and to an organisation intent on shaping a better built environment for all our communities.
