Head of Industry & Alumni Engagement – Ongoing , Full Time (5 days per week) AFTRS is the national screen and audio school – the only Australian education institution to consistently make  The Hollywood Reporter 's prestigious annual list of the top film schools in the world. Working hand-in-hand with the screen and broadcast industries, AFTRS is a global centre of excellence that delivers the highest level of screen and audio education, training and research across Australia. We are looking for a highly skilled Head of Industry & Alumni Engagement to join our Partnerships & Development division. This role manages industry partnerships and alumni engagement, in line with the School's Industry Skills F ramework and the objectives and measures of AFTRS' 5-year Corporate Strategy, Creating the Future . You will have strong industry networks to strategically manage our industry partnerships and alumni engagement; facilitate and lead industry training partnerships, sponsorships and events; and lead industry consultation including the Industry Advisory Boards and our triennial Skills Survey. This role works collaboratively to ensure messaging and revenue opportunities are maximised and that AFTRS training is top of mind for screen and broadcast industries, to address current and future needs. About the role: As the Head of Industry & Alumni Engagement at AFTRS, you will: Pitch, broker and contract industry-training partnerships that leverage AFTRS' brand, expertise and experience and address industry skills shortages, proposing existing short courses or designing bespoke new training programs. Lead and manage Industry consultation to ensure the relevance and alignment of AFTRS activities, focusing on annual Industry Advisory Panels and a triennial skills survey. This includes facilitating participation of relevant external and internal stakeholders, making recommendations and ensuring consultation outcomes are fed across School divisions to inform new and existing curriculum, research projects and best practice production resourcing and processes. Based on identified evidence-based industry need, provide advice and guidance to the Head of Business Development, Head of Short Courses and the Director of Teaching & Learning on the development of skills-based training. Represent AFTRS externally with a view to demonstrate the School's value as a relevant, effective and collaborative partner in industry in line with the aims and values of AFTRS strategy, and ensure AFTRS is effectively represented at Industry networking events, thought leadership panels. Work with the Business Development and Short Courses teams to facilitate the pitching of short courses to industry clients that address current and emerging skills gaps. Plan and deliver Industry-facing thought leadership and networking events across Australia that align to strategic priorities and agreed corporate measures. Work with the Events team to produce showcase events acting as a bridge between recent graduates and employment opportunities in the screen and broadcast industries. Manage the search for placement and internship opportunities for AFTRS students and ensure they are effective, safe and successful. Work with the Alumni Manager to design and implement an Alumni Engagement strategy to build the AFTRS community, identify potential champions, recruit speakers, learn about industry needs, share key messages, raise scholarship funds, and promote student recruitment. Create and maintain culturally and psychologically safe learning and working environments. About you – you have: Significant experience as a screen or broadcast Industry practitioner with the ability to build strong, collaborative relationships and develop networks as required. Excellent current networks across all media formats and disciplines. Experience pitching or selling products or services in/to the screen and broadcast industries. Experience designing or teaching curriculum in tertiary education. Demonstrated experience and proven ability to provide high-quality and relevant educational experiences across the media industries, whilst leveraging available resources. Excellent interpersonal skills including outstanding written and oral communication. Cultural competence and professional capacity to engage respectfully and effectively with First Nations stakeholders and culturally and racially marginalised groups. Experience in creating and maintaining culturally and psychologically safe learning and working environments.
