We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Head of Inclusive Education teacher to join John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS). This is an ongoing, full time (1.0 FTE) position commencing in Term 1, 2025 or by negotiation.
About the Position:The Head of Inclusive Education plays a pivotal role in overseeing the provision and implementation of programs for students who require learning support and or who have special needs. The successful applicant will lead a large team of Teachers and Education Assistants and work closely with key stakeholders including parents, therapists and TSH Outposts. Whilst the Head of Inclusive Education has K-12 oversight, they are supported by the Primary Inclusive Education Coordinator who works with Primary students and staff. The Inclusive Education team champion an inclusive, supportive learning environment for all students.
This position presents a unique opportunity for professional growth and leadership development. The successful candidate will lead our Learning Enrichment Centre (LEC) and will advocate best practice in inclusive education, staying informed about the latest research and methodologies.
Learning Enrichment Centre (LEC) at JWACS:The LEC at JWACS supports students with special needs. LEC staff work collaboratively with students to develop their knowledge, skills, and confidence, assisting their capacity to access all that the School has to offer. Support may be provided in small groups or individually within the Centre or mainstream classes. Regular reviews of students' needs occur in conjunction with class teachers. The LEC promotes liaison between staff, parents, and other professionals involved with each student, recognizing the vital role these connections play in a child's development.
Selection Criteria:The successful candidate must:
Understand and support the Mission, Vision and Ethos and Core Values of The Anglican Schools Commission and John Wollaston Anglican Community School (the School).Actively support a child safe culture.Demonstrate knowledge and application of best practice in Inclusive Education.Actively support, through current practice, the principles of the 1992 Disability Discrimination Act and 2005 Disability Standards for Education.Have significant teaching experience in educational contexts which support students who have learning difficulties and or disabilities.Demonstrate an understanding of the teaching, learning, assessment and reporting cycle using digital platforms, such as SEQTA.Demonstrate excellent administrative and organisational skills including strong written and verbal communication skills and effective time management.Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills being inclusive, approachable, a good listener and having the capacity to establish and maintain positive relationships with staff, students, parents and carers.Demonstrate the professional attributes and skills of a highly competent, experienced classroom practitioner demonstrating a commitment to life-long learning.Bachelor of Education or a degree qualification supported by a Post Graduate Diploma of Education.Post Graduate studies in Inclusive Education would be highly desirable.Be registered with the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia.Hold a current Working with Children Card.Information about John Wollaston Anglican Community School: John Wollaston Anglican Community School (JWACS) is a co-educational Pre-Kindergarten to Year 12 day school, nestled in the picturesque foothills of the Darling Range in Perth's south-east.
