The Role As a high-profile leader in our organisation, this role will champion safety excellence and be the driving force behind the continuing development of our safety culture. Your influence at executive and board level will be crucial in driving impactful, lasting change, while safeguarding the wellbeing of our workforce and delivering on our people strategy.
Key Deliverables: Lead and execute TasWater's health and safety strategy, aligning it with broader business objectives. Oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of TasWater's Work Health and Safety Management System, ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements. Manage the implementation of risk management strategies, particularly for complex and high-risk issues. Drive the development and execution of behavioural safety programs, promoting a proactive approach to health and safety. Lead the injury management and return-to-work programs, ensuring effective processes and compliance with relevant legislation. Provide expert advice and support to senior management, acting as the primary point of contact for health and safety-related matters, including incident management and regulatory compliance. What We're Looking For We are seeking a strategic leader with a deep commitment to health and safety who has experience in complex organisations, with a dispersed operational workforce. A collaborative approach is critical along with a deep understanding of current WHS legislation, and the ability to inspire a culture of high safety standards across our business.
Suitable candidates will have the following experience: Extensive experience in a senior health and safety leadership role, with demonstrated success in managing health and safety systems in a complex environment. Demonstrated ability to lead and mentor a diverse team, fostering professional growth and driving continuous improvement. Exceptional communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels. Proven expertise in risk management, including hazard identification, analysis, and the development of effective risk mitigation strategies. Strong knowledge of WHS legislation, workers compensation law, and emergency management principles, with a track record of ensuring compliance. Experience in delivering successful behavioural safety improvement programs, with a focus on creating a positive safety culture. The Details This role can be based in either Hobart, Launceston, or Devonport and attracts a salary of circa $250,000 (inclusive of superannuation), negotiable dependent on experience.
