Management - Schools (Education & Training) Full time Pedare is an R-12 coeducational Anglican and Uniting Church school in Golden Grove. We are committed to developing young people to make a difference in our local and global communities, and passionate about providing our students with the very best education. Pedare was established in 1986, and we currently have over 1,150 students. Pedare is a vibrant, collaborative, values-based workplace where staff are welcomed and supported. We cater for over 1,100 students across Reception to Year 12 and we use the IB PYP and MYP frameworks, Australian Curriculum and SACE for curriculum delivery. We take pride in knowing and understanding each of our students, their learning and their interests. As strengths are recognised we strive to support and enhance them whilst maintaining balance and providing a range of opportunities in a variety of disciplines. We recognise that not all students have the same needs, therefore, we have established a dedicated diverse learning program where it provides direct and timely assistance to students who require additional learning requirements under the teacher remit. The Opportunity: We have an exciting leadership opportunity available for the position of Head of Health and Physical Education R-12, starting in January 2025. We are seeking a vibrant and dynamic individual with proven leadership skills and expertise in H&PE. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining high educational standards and overseeing the coordination of rigorous teaching programmes across the College. This leadership role involves providing exceptional support to staff through professional development, mentoring, and promoting innovative teaching methods. The Head of Health and Physical Education will also foster outstanding classroom environments and assist with curriculum organisation and documentation. The position comes with an initial 3-year tenure, with a potential further 2 years offered upon role and incumbent review. A 0.2 FTE time release is provided, with a teaching load of 0.8 FTE. This leadership role is underpinned by a permanent full-time teaching position. The role: Build the capacity and nurture the development of staff within the learning area of Health and Physical Education Lead the educational focus of the IB MYP framework, the development of the Australian Curriculum (ACARA) and ensure this transitions seamlessly into SACE preparation Support and promote innovative and creative pedagogy Ensure that students have a safe environment in which to learn and a broad, relevant, and challenging curriculum Inspire faculty staff through promotion of authentic learning opportunities for students that are contemporary, contextual and engaging Prepare and maintain budgets Be responsible for the preparation and monitoring of teaching and assessment plans Be responsible for an organised and efficient storage of teaching and learning documentation Ability to collaborate with other Pedare staff Ability to relate well to students, recognising both the pastoral and educative aspects of the student-teacher relationship Maintain an interest in the welfare of students and promote the wellbeing of students Some out of hours may be required due to role requirements Willingness to participate in extra-curricular is required What we need: A current South Australian Working with Children Check (WWCC) A current Responding to Risks of Harm, Abuse and Neglect (RRHAN) certificate A current Teacher Registration certificate in South Australia A current First Aid and CPR Certificate (preferred) Academic Transcripts and Degrees, Diplomas, Certificates All certificates and qualification must be provided to the College prior to commencement of employment; and the College requests the applicant to disclose any information relevant to their eligibility to engage in activities involving children and young people.
