Description   Head of Compliance  Location: Eight Mile Plains Contract Type: 12-Month Fixed Term Are you a strategic leader with a deep understanding of compliance, regulatory affairs, and risk management in complex environments?

We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Compliance to lead the design and delivery of enterprise-wide compliance architecture and governance solutions for our APRA-regulated entities.
This is a critical role where you will work closely with senior leaders, obligation owners, and regulatory stakeholders to shape and drive compliance practices that deliver better outcomes for members and the organisation.
Key Responsibilities: Lead the compliance and regulatory affairs function across the organisation, ensuring alignment with APRA prudential requirements (note that this role is not responsible for the Insurance arm of the organisation).
Support the design and implementation of a comprehensive compliance framework that delivers risk-based approaches, governance controls, and an effective regulatory compliance culture.
Provide expert advice and challenge to senior leaders to improve decision-making and ensure clear accountability in first and second-line management.
Ensure the maintenance and maturity of the organisation's compliance architecture, policies, controls, and supporting infrastructure.
Promote a strong culture of compliance across the organisation, encouraging ownership and accountability.
Work closely with senior leadership to assess and improve compliance processes and ensure sustained adherence to Australian regulatory frameworks.
About you A minimum of 10+ years' experience in a compliance, risk, or audit management role, ideally within a complex, matrixed organisation.
University degree in Business, Commerce, Law, or a related field.
Additional tertiary education in regulatory, compliance, or risk management highly regarded.
Extensive knowledge of Australian regulatory environment, including key legislation such as the Corporations Act 2001, Privacy Act 1988, Anti-Money Laundering and Counter-Terrorism Financing Act 2006, National Consumer Credit Protection Act 2010 and APRA's prudential standards.
Proven experience developing enterprise-wide compliance frameworks, systems, and automated solutions, particularly in the financial services industry.
Deep understanding of Australian prudential regulation and requirements for APRA-regulated entities.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex regulatory information and present findings effectively.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence risk and compliance behaviours across all levels of the organisation.
Demonstrated experience in delivering regulatory affairs functions and activities, with a sound understanding of corporate governance and compliance management systems.
