The role The Head of Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A) provides advice and recommendations to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) in the development of strategies and plans for the FP&A function and APRA.
The position is responsible for providing advice to senior leaders on the development, implementation and tracking of budgets and performance.
This includes accountability for the provision of accurate financial data and forecasts to aid senior leaders in making decisions, and thereby achieving APRA's strategic vision.
The team The FP&A team forms part of the Finance function at APRA, within the Chief of Staff & Enterprise Services Division. The function is responsible for the development and implementation of effective accounting, business planning, project management and procurement frameworks to deliver requisite services to APRA, which facilitate the achievement of APRA's corporate objectives.
Key responsibilities Business partner to senior management in APRA providing financial solutions to business issues, including funding, budgeting, forecasting, financial analysis, and insights.Provide senior management with accurate information on which to make business decisions and deliver on their financial commitments.Responsible for the development and implementation of financial strategies and plans in support of APRA's corporate and business objectives.Provide the Board Members and Executive Directors (EDs) with strategic and operational reporting to assist in decision making and the utilisation of resources.Liaise with other government agencies for financial aspects including determination of industry levies, funding and cost-recovered activities.Lead and support APRA's requirements through the Government's budget and reporting cycle and processes.Lead and develop team members, including identification and fostering of potential talent and inspiring high performance throughout the team.Set clear goals and objectives for team members in line with APRA's corporate plan and capability frameworks.About you Experience in senior finance and leadership roles with deep knowledge and understanding of financial planning, risk management, and performance management concepts and practices.Substantial skills and proven capacity to manage the development and tracking of strategic and operational financial budgets and plans, including investment pool.Experience in the development and implementation of financial management systems, processes, and reporting procedures.Demonstrated capacity to analyse financial data and provide senior leaders with insights that meet their business requirements.Adept in the use of financial systems, modelling / analytics tools and software.Demonstrated ability to build, lead and develop high performing, engaged teams.Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to advise and report to internal and external stakeholders and Boards.Ability to lead change and deliver strategic projects.Professionally qualified in finance (CPA / CA).
