About the role
Reporting to the General Counsel and Director of Corporate Operations, the Head of Finance will be responsible for the finance and accounting, shared services and risk teams to support the various business units at Visit Victoria and the Melbourne Convention Bureau. The role leads a small team of specialists and oversees statutory reporting, management reporting, audit, risk, insurance, annual budgets and business plans. In addition to driving and delivering the day-to-day functions, the Head of Finance provides expert strategic financial management advice and leads the support and engagement of the Audit and Risk Committees. The Head of Finance has the opportunity to lead and elevate the performance of the finance team to streamline processes, achieve greater efficiencies and provide strong business partnering support.
About you
CA/CPA qualified and with an understanding of government funding and reporting, you are an energetic finance leader with commercial agility. Curious and driven, you influence continuous improvement and change across the organisation and inspire high performance by encouraging teamwork and improved stakeholder engagement. You are action-orientated, provide high-quality reporting and insights, implement best practice process and controls, and provide meaningful advice to inform decision making. With strong communication skills, you can articulate complex information to a range of internal and external stakeholders with positivity and integrity and can suitably adapt your style to ensure optimal engagement with your audience. Your strong technical background is demonstrated in your expert application of accounting policies, accounting standards, risk management programs and tax legislation. You are hands-on, content to immerse yourself in the detail and can switch to big picture strategy as required.
