This excellent Head of Finance - Corporate role is a fundamental financial leadership role with our client - a large and well-respected Victorian financial institution.
The opportunity on offer is for a seasoned and well-established finance executive to take primary responsibility for controlling the financial and accounting methods, practices, and procedures (including preparation of appropriate financial assessments, accounting records, and other information) and providing key financial advice and recommendations within the organisation.

Key ResponsibilitiesControl of the finance and accounting frameworks, practices, and procedures of the organisation in its corporate capacity in alignment with all financial and regulatory requirements.Shape policy, determine financial performance reporting and drive analysis to continuously improve corporate planning, budgeting, forecasting, and cost reporting.Leads the Corporate Finance, Financial Planning and Analysis, Payroll & Accounts Payable functions.Leads and manages the procurement function in line with requirements and guidelines.Leads and manages the transformation/re-engineering of finance systems and processes.Lead/contribute to significant strategic projects including the client fee review project and remuneration framework review project.Direct and review the analysis and interpretation of statistical and accounting information for use in management decision making.Direct activity related to management of funds, cash flow, budget and financial control/reporting.Lead and co-ordinate the corporate planning process each year including building the plan with all parts of the business, analysis and iteration of the plan and presentation and stakeholder management with ELT & Board.Lead the financial analysis elements of the strategy setting process for the organisation.Accountable for the compliance of corporation tax requirements including BAS returns, FBT, PAYG, and income tax returns.Participates in Board and Audit, Risk and Compliance Committee meetings, leading discussion on finance and external audit matters.Manage the external audit program.Relationship management with key regulatory bodies.Critical Skills RequiredStrong financial management and strategic planning skills.Finance systems and process transformation and re-engineering experience.Strong communication skills both written and verbal.Advanced problem solving and decision making.Results orientation.Information technology and project management skills.Strong people management and leadership skills.Proven Board presentation, excellent written and oral communication skills.Building and maintaining relationships – both internal and external.Investment industry knowledge.The ability to quickly establish an understanding of client needs and requirements.Highly organised individual with strong attention to detail.Qualifications and Key AttributesCA qualified (ideally with a chartered firm background in audit) followed by significant relevant experience in a large commercial business (ideally in a financial services or banking context).Experience in the use of BI and reporting tools.Proven track record in a similar role dealing with senior executives, driving commercial outcomes and process and systems changes.Evidence of sound commercial judgement.Evidence of well-developed analytical and interpretive skills.Experience in stakeholder engagement and management and influencing others.Experience in change management as it relates to finance systems and processes transformation programs.Experience in meeting goals through the integration of resources, processes, systems, people, and policies.Ability to manage multiple tasks, problem solve and prioritise with a passion to succeed.Comfortable challenging the status quo.Excellent attention to detail.Outstanding written and verbal communication skills and confidence to present to key internal and external stakeholders.Strong experience with major ERP packages (Oracle desirable), BI tools, and Advanced Excel skills.Communicates in a calm and proactive manner.Other Relevant InformationThe preferred applicant will be required to complete pre-employment screening that will include employment and qualification checks.
