What's the opportunity?
The Head of Engineering for Product will play a pivotal role in managing the transition to our Managed Service Provider (MSP) model and driving the ongoing delivery of engineering activities. This position is responsible for ensuring a seamless transition while maintaining high-quality product development and fostering technical excellence. By leading both the technical and organisational change aspects of the transition, you will ensure continuous alignment with strategic goals, cultivate strong relationships with the MSP, and drive Telstra Health's future capabilities.

Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field. 10+ years of experience leading product engineering teams, particularly in the healthcare, digital health, or regulated sectors, with a strong understanding of industry-specific challenges such as compliance, data security, and user experience in health-related products. Proven experience in managing the transition of engineering efforts to third-party providers, such as a Managed Service Provider, ensuring seamless handovers and ongoing delivery is essential. Demonstrated leadership in managing large-scale engineering teams, both insourced and outsourced, ensuring technical excellence, innovation, and high-quality product outcomes in a healthcare or regulated environment. At least 5 years of experience managing the transition of engineering or technical functions to external providers, ensuring knowledge transfer, process integration, and delivery continuity. Ability to oversee transitions while maintaining high standards of quality and stakeholder satisfaction. Ability to lead teams through significant change, ensuring that transitions are aligned with business objectives while maintaining high standards of quality, compliance, and stakeholder satisfaction. Proven ability to lead engineering efforts in support of product development, ensuring that technical solutions meet product requirements and align with business goals. Strong experience with continuous integration, testing, deployment, and engineering best practices that ensure scalability, performance, and security, particularly in healthcare technologies or regulated industries. Ability to guide engineering teams in adopting modern technologies and methodologies to support efficient product development and delivery. Strong background in strategic planning for product development, including setting long-term goals, resource allocation, and alignment with business objectives. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with other departments such as product management, design, marketing, and sales to ensure alignment and successful product outcomes. Deep technical knowledge in relevant technologies, programming languages, and development methodologies. Experience with agile and DevOps practices. What are some of the benefits of the business?
